Due to my Ulcerative colitis flare up ( basil seeds/ chai seeds being the cause ) , My intestines were severely compromised . My digestion was messed up . It used to be perfect before on normal diet I was taking ( beans , rice , meat , some fruits , potatoes etc , sugar and cheat meat on 1 times a week ). I recently had a small flare up again , so this time instead of letting it heal slowly on its own , I decided to do something about it to speed up the recovery . Researching online I found about the benefits of cabbage juice .
I consumed cabbage juice for about a week and my stools are almost back to normal again miraculously , no more bleeding anymore !/
Also, due to colitis flare up my eosinophils and neutrophils were borderline high elevated , they are back to normal again .
never ever going to consume seeds again in my life and I think this is a general rule everyone should observe .
Plan going forward is to reduce free copper levels ( I am not going to take Zinc anymore , I feel like I am enough ) . I will retest copper and zinc after 6 months from now . Also for the first time in past 3 years of Low vitamin A diet , I will test for serum retinol to see where my levels at
Diet as of now
1: Lamb ( 20% fat ,rest lean )
2 : Black beans
3 : White Rice
4 : Kefir occasionally and milk
5: Cookies etc
6 : Occasionally some fruit , potatoes , junk foods pizza , cheese burger etc
7 : Sugar

Just to be clear, grains and beans are seeds, so you are still eating seeds in your current diet (black beans, white rice).

are you not worried about cheese and dairy, btw?
yeah , but not anymore , been off vitamin A since past 3 years , I can tolerate them better now , but I do take them occasionally in small quantities , like once a week Small amounts of commercial cheese on pizaa , or half a cup of kefir milk . It. doesnt hurt. much .
Sometime a scoop of ice cream. Small amounts once a month or week wont hurt .

They are but less damaging than potent small seeds like basil , chia etc . and also. the quantity is less when consumed .
Imagine 50 gms of chia vs 50 gms or cooked beans . Also I believe when soaked and cooked , black beans are pretty safe. red kidney beans also flare up colitis in my case, even if I consume a tiny amount.
Unlike chia where 50 gms would have a. lot of seeds and uncooked .I dont know , but there is something about black and white. beans that dont mess up my gut. but Wouldn't recommend red kidneys beans to anyone

Quote from r on April 23, 2023, 10:37 amHello everyone,
I wanted to provide an update on my health journey since my last post. I'm happy to report that my colitis is currently in remission, but unfortunately, my gut is still severely compromised. I'm doing everything I can to bring it back to normal, but digestion is not as it used to be. I don't experience any bleeding, but I still have issues with digesting certain foods.
On a positive note, I've been able to reintroduce eggs and chicken into my diet, but only in small quantities. Most vitamin A rich foods are also tolerable again, although my gut still makes things worse. I believe that fixing my gut is the only issue left for me to tackle.
I've been following a low vitamin A diet for the past four years, which includes foods like beans, lamb, rice, and other low-vitamin A foods. While this has been helpful, I still have a long way to go in restoring my gut health.
I'm grateful for the progress I've made so far and am optimistic about the future. I'm hoping to continue making positive strides towards a healthy gut and overall improved health.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for being a part of this forum.

Quote from r on April 23, 2023, 10:43 amI recently had a blood test and thought I would share the results with you all. Overall, I am pleased with how things are looking, but there are a few things I'd like to discuss.
Firstly, my testosterone levels are at 5.94 ng/mL, which is within the reference range of 2.8 - 8.0 ng/mL. It's worth noting that my testosterone was previously at the upper end of the range, but it went down due to a long flare up of colitis. While it's not at my ideal level, I'm optimistic that it will continue to improve as my colitis is now in remission.
On a positive note, my vitamin D levels are looking good at 29.7 ng/ml, without taking any supplements. I've been getting plenty of sunlight lately, which has likely contributed to this improvement.
I'm also happy to report that my C-reactive protein (hsCRP) levels are within the normal range, indicating that there is no inflammation in my body at the moment.
My lipid profile showed that my total cholesterol was 141.0 mg/dL, which is below the recommended level of < 200 mg/dL. My HDL cholesterol was 45.9 mg/dL, which is slightly below the ideal range of > 60 mg/dL. My LDL cholesterol was 92.3 mg/dL, which is within the recommended range of < 130 mg/dL. My triglycerides were 73.4 mg/dL, which is also within the recommended range of < 150 mg/dL.
My blood urea, blood urea nitrogen, serum creatinine, uric acid, and electrolyte levels were all within the normal range as well.
Lastly, I am still working on fixing my compromised gut, which has affected my digestion. My low Vitamin A diet (mostly beans, lamb, rice, etc.) has been helping, and I can now tolerate eggs and chicken again in small quantities. While my cholesterol and lipid levels are within the normal range, I still have some work to do to bring my gut back to normal.
Thanks for reading and I would appreciate any thoughts or advice on how I can continue to improve my health.

I notice you cited Sugar as part of your diet. If you are located in India, this might be a problem because India vigorously fortifies sugar with vitamin A. Maybe this modernistic zeal does not apply to gurh? I do not think (maybe mistaken) that Pakistan messes up with sugar.

Yes India has policies to fortify sugar and other foods with Vitamin A , but it does so but including F+ logo on packaging , the one I eat is not fortified .

It seems you're doing great and that is fantastic!! I just wanted to mention since you have gut issues, could be worth wile to check out Unique Hammond (and/or Karen Hurd), she had chrohn's and was cured by Karen Hurd bean protocol, and now she helps others with the same. If you're interested in further tweaking your diet. It can be done low A for sure. 😊 Two things I know will have to go are caffeine and sugar. But their gut protocol is different from the one I am on so I do not know the details. Unique does 1-1 consultations whereas Karen Hurd will answer all questions and help tweak diet based on symptoms for life after purchasing any of her packages.
Thanks for reading and I would appreciate any thoughts or advice on how I can continue to improve my health.
