maint. diet burn rate

Does this  imply that the average person uses 20 ug per day?

https://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/vitamins/vitamin-A

"The RDA for vitamin A was revised by the Food and Nutrition Board (FNB) of the US Institute of Medicine (IOM) in 2001. The RDA is based on the Estimated Average Requirement (EAR), which is defined as the biological requirement for 50% of the population. The RDA is the recommended intake needed by nearly all of the population to ensure adequate hepatic stores of vitamin A in the body (20 μg/g for four months if the person consumes a vitamin A-deficient diet) to support normal reproductive function, immune function, gene expression, and vision (for details of calculations, see 56). Table 2 lists the RDA values in micrograms (μg) of Retinol Activity Equivalents (RAE) per day."

Up to now I'd been thinking that the RDA was a pretty good guideline for healthy people.

With this guideline (of 120 times what you need each day), everyone would eventually become toxic, as their livers filled up.   Whether it took 15 years or 70.

It really makes me re-think my "lower" VA diet.  crap...

I got this from the thread on depletion:   https://ggenereux.blog/discussion/topic/depletion-rate/

"The absolute retinol utilisation rate ranged between 1113 and 2070 μg (3.9 and 7.2 μmol) per day among subjects at baseline and fell to low levels as depletion progressed (50–180 μg (0.2–0.6 μmol) per day)."

or maybe "utilizing" 50-180 is tolerable while "utilizing" 1113-2070 is toxic.

Still it's a tiny amount!

Half an egg!

(However,  my family (in the 70's) never ate eggs every day.  It was a weekend thing.)

Literally once your liver is full you are done.

I think the RDA is 700 microgram. I don’t think the paper is saying people only need 20 microgram. The RDA may be a bit high I guess but not that much difference.
