Resistant starch, SCFAs and modern commodities: a gut issue

PreviousPage 6 of 6

The problem with B1 is it is immunosuppressive(like steroids, etc). So it(being megadosed as a drug) could make us feel good at first, while eventually leading to long term health problems.

TD(thiamine deficiency) was associated with greater bacterial clearance, oxidative stress and inflammatory response changes.

@rockarolla ah, thank you so much! I knew it had to be too good to be true. I’m stopping my B1 megadosing right now!

could you explain the quote in relationship to b1 megadosing, I didn’t understand that. To me your post reads like:

«too much b1 is bad, like a steroid, suppressing immune system»

vs

«Too little b1 is bad»

I don’t see the how the one is an argument for the other. Forgive my stupidity <3

Also, how would you then treat b1 deficiency? Low carb and low b1 supplementation?

I'am not sure if too little B1 is bad. The body and immune system are both constantly trying to rebalance around many markers so as one is healing he/she could expect temp "deficiencies" like low "Vit" D & "Vit" C, low B12 and folates, being hypo, being low in T3, being anemic(low hgb), etc for a while...

I'm experimenting with increasing fibre to help short-chain fatty acids to help butyrate. I think butyrate might help leaky gut. I have no intention of supplementing it. I still have eczema although it's declining so wanted to see if extra fibre would help about 36 grams a day at the moment. I'll report back.
