I needed to disable self sign-ups because I’ve been getting too many spam-type accounts. Thanks.

- It’s still a free speech zone, but within reason of course.
- Politeness and courtesy are required. Personal attacks, etc. are completely unacceptable. While here, do not disparage the site, its owner, moderators, and participants. Example: "Over on reddit we all agree you are just a bunch of big stupid-heads.”
- Offenders will / can be banned without warning. But some may be given a time-out period rather than a permanent ban.
- Promoting for-profit products, supplements, and services is strictly not permitted.
- Do not dox (reveal a member's identity in any way) or threaten to dox
Grant's goals and preferences for the forum:
- Sharing ideas and suggestions on what can make Vitamin A reduction more successful for more people.
- Sharing progress reports (good and bad).
- Hopefully focusing more on the science and helping move the needle on it.
- Focus on results and not on debates.
There have been some issues around discussion of practitioners since it often ends up violating Rule 4 above. We've decided to experiment a bit with this as follows.
We are going to try out having a RESOURCES thread. Post your resource on the thread, and the moderator will add it to the list. Posts on the RESOURCES thread will be deleted after the resource is added to the list. This would be the place to put links to other forums, practitioners, books, videos etc. Just because a resource makes it to the list, it in no way means Grant approves of the resource. On the flip side, just because you have requested a resource to be listed doesn't mean it will make it to the list. The list will be completely at the whim of Grant and the mods. Think of this list as a concession to rule 4, a gift that we may take back if problems arise about it. https://ggenereux.blog/discussion/topic/resources/
Many MEMBERS have ongoing PROGRESS REPORTS. Regarding reviews of practitioners, we are going to try out having a little more freedom to discuss paid practitioners, sites, etc in the ongoing PERSONAL PROGRESS REPORT of the MEMBER. Anecdotes about other non-member's progress are allowed, but discussion of paid practitioners or services used by them are NOT. Again, this is a concession to rule 4, a gift that we may take back if the policy is abused.
Good Example of discussing a resource: "This is my progress report, and I followed practitioner X's advice about kumquats, and the huge wart on my nose shriveled up and fell off." You might reply: "That may be so, but I followed practitioner X's advice about kumquats and then destroyed the work bathroom." (State your case and then move on, arguments not allowed, as per usual.).
Bad Example: Posting at everyone's progress report with: "Join practitioner X! Dude knows kumquats!"
Grant requests not to email him at this time regarding general questions, rather just post them here on the forum. He does appreciate receiving progress reports from people who do not wish to be on the forum.
Grant thanks everyone for helping and participating in this effort.
You may reply to this post with one-line suggestions for further rules, replies may be deleted to keep this post simple. No debate will be allowed on this post.

Quote from Moderator on September 8, 2024, 3:54 amAs pointed out, moderator-bot's actions are not as efficient as a robot and may appear capricious. An imperfect moderator is better than a closed site. Self moderation is best. Follow the rules and no moderation is necessary.
If moderator-bot steps in and says a thread is not about vitamin A, then do not keep bumping it or it may be deleted. This would break our heart since each word you type in here is precious to moderator-bot.

Quote from Moderator on September 29, 2024, 5:34 amIt is important to know how this forum differs from a practitioner site.
Some people do not have the time for study. Others just don't learn best via reading. Some people need gentle care because they are very unwell. Some people think it isn't a good idea to be your own doctor. And so practitioners make sense.
This forum is not a practitioner site. In fact, that is what makes it important. This site is for talking about Vitamin A overload without money being involved.
This site is great for people who want to come and just read. People might also be inspired to share scientific studies or their results without being censored by someone who has money at stake. People might want to ask questions.
Like many places on the interwebs, you are up against the world when you post. You better have thick skin. You may post here one day and gentle people give you thoughtful advice, you may come here the next day and be blasted by someone who didn't sleep all night. The mods are not here every minute of every day. And even when we are here, pampering is not in our programming. The volunteer moderators are not here to babysit.
This site is for people who want to participate in the development of an important idea, and talk about that idea free of the pressures of the dollar.
Anything you can do to self-moderate is greatly appreciated.

Quote from Moderator on December 7, 2024, 9:27 amThis site can be thought about as a library of information, with each topic a section of that library. We'd like it to be easier for people to find information by having people participate in general topics, for example: "Pregnancy" or "Oil Pulling".
Each person who starts a log is ideally an interesting case study that keeps getting added to and discussed.
Before posting, search for general titles that apply to your topic and put your post there so that info about the topic is collected in one place. If no general topic exists, then create one.
Your participation is very important, make it count for those who come after you!

Quote from Moderator on October 8, 2025, 6:21 amTo be clear, the moderator does not blame anyone for a recent decision of poster X to delete her thread and leave. The moderator believes that X was at a high level of frustration (as many posters are, because of the mysterious symptoms they are experiencing) and that poster Y was actually trying hard to help poster X. When humans are in a high level of frustration, they can be more apt to be offended by questions that were not meant to harm.
