Quote from Sandra Forrester on April 9, 2020, 7:48 amHello fellow travelers on this long road to restored health. I'm a 54 year old woman, married with 3 children. I have Hashimoto's (mild), IBS symptoms, warm flashes from Menopause, weakening eyesight, but generally feel well. I don't take any medication for my Hashimoto's - stopped over 8 years ago. I had extreme fatigue and took vit D for a couple of years, and have just stopped taking it. Otherwise, no meds or supplements except for 100mg molybdenum. I eat an organic diet, only use raw dairy from our A2A2 Jersey cows (we have a homestead) and eat our own 100% grass-fed beef and lamb. How did I end up with Vit A toxicity? Carrot juice. Cod Liver Oil. Years ago, fortified milk and cheese. I can look back and see when I had dermatitis, when I was diagnosed with Hashimotos, and how these were linked with my misguided "quest for better health."
I started a zero VA diet 5 days ago and will be documenting my journey. I'm lowering the VA content in my family's meals gradually, so I won't report on any of them (even though they have conditions that should make some spectacular reporting) until I can get them on a consistent protocol for VA elimination.
Day 1: Headache and eye pain all day long. Odd tingly feeling in my body. Feeling colder than usual.
Day 2: Fasting. Milder headache, still tingly feeling, colder than usual.
Day 3/4: Fasting. No headache, tingly at times, feeling colder than usual.

Quote from Ourania on April 9, 2020, 8:02 amWelcome @sandra, I think you have found a place to really help you. After 4 months I am starting to feel better. I document everything in my log regularly. I hope it helps, and thank you for doing the same! Be prepared for ups and downs, but for me it is definitely getting slowly better.

Quote from Sandra Forrester on April 11, 2020, 7:25 amThank you so much, Ourania! It's going well so far and I have a welcome sore throat. Biggest progress is seeing orange mucus on my poop yesterday! Sounds yucky, but it's a wonderful thing to see on day 6 of the process!

Quote from Sandra Forrester on May 15, 2020, 6:19 pmSo here I am, one month later, which makes me around 6 weeks into this. By the end of the first week, my carpal tunnel disappeared. I'm doing the beans, making sure they aren't eaten with any fat, and my digestion is calmer than it's been in years. I sleep very well, feeling tired after a long day. However, I have some crazy energy. I feel like running, something I would normally hate the very thought of. I will simply move my body, go out and do some outdoor chores, anything to burn off some of this energy. I have lost around 7lbs, which puts me within my recommended BMI.
As for the children, I'm in stealth mode with them so I've been putting soluble fiber into their water, ginger tea, baked goods, etc. I have them on a low VA diet, in a way that they aren't realizing. It's only been around 3 weeks and it's not been perfect so I cannot see any notable difference yet.

Lots of good wishes!
