short-sightedness(myopia)

If anyone has this issue. I just want to say that it can be reversed. It is interesting that most people and doctors think that myopia is some kind of disease. But in fact it is nothing but result of bad habits/lifestyle. It is exactly the same thing like for example when your back starts to hurt because you are sitting all the time.. So in that case you don't need some corset or surgery. You need to change your habits and life style. You need to sit less, move more, exercise etc.. Same with the eyes. Most people damage their vision by constantly looking at close distance. So books, PC, TV, mobile phone etc.. That's why most "smart" people who read all the time have basically all glasses and you will not see many kinds that are outside all the time wearing glasses.. Now the biggest trap is that something like 0,5 diopter can be still easily reversed by reducing time on PC, books and simply be more outside and watching at long distances. But once you get glasses. Your eyes can't no longer relearn to focus on long distance, because the glasses are doing it for you. So now it is basically like you are watching at your phone from 40cm all day even if you are outside.. That's why your myopia will get worse and from 0,5 diopter you will get more and more diopters. Now I am that case who had prescribed 0,5 diopters for myopia. I damaged my vision by playing PC games a lot like 10 hours a day for years.. I needed good vision for riding motorcycle.. But because I was not riding bike. I never used those glasses. So my vision was never full HD perfect, but also is not much worse.. I have still around 0,75..(You can ask so why I didn't reversed my myopia and it is because due to many reason I was still most of the time at home looking at short distance. But every time I have periods of some work outside at least for couple of months my vision gets drastically better. Once I end up at home watching PC couple of months latter I am again at 0,5-0,75 diopter..) If I was wearing glasses for the last 10 years I am 100% sure I would have at least 3, but probably 5 or more diopters.. What is interesting when I want to talk about this with some optometrist. Most of them will say myopia is disease and you need glasses. I would like to know if they really believe in it or it is just lie. Because they are selling glasses at the end of the day heh... Anyway now I have my new glasses because I need to have perfect vision for doctor visit due to job. Where I will drive forklift. But I will not wear them most of the time. Only when it would be dangerous for me to not wearing them. Like if I drive that forklift at night. Because I know for sure if I would wear them a lot. I would need to wear them all the time.. I also learned that optometrist like to prescribe the most diopters possible. So you see really sharp far away and your eye doesn't need to work at all. That way you will need another diopter sooner.. = more money for them..
Now the most important part. If someone is wearing glasses for myopia and wants to do something about it. Look at youtube channel of this guy and also his website. https://endmyopia.org/
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEhYxefHylpSgoiXDWcBrlA
He is basically talking about how you can slowly wearing less and less diopters and ultimately stop wearing them for good.. I am sure that many people would like to know this and would be willing to change their habits to improve their vision. But I also know that most people are not willing to change anything and if it is not fast and easy fix like surgery or pill they are not interested.. This is long process that will take years if someone has a lot of diopters..

Quote from Matrixik on July 21, 2020, 9:28 amI check endmyopia from time to time from like 2 years even though I never wore glasses myself (OK, at school there was some try to give me -0.25 but, thankfully, my head would hurt using them). I highly suggest checking it. There is much more info and people reports about they improvements on private Facebook group and private board (you need to pass quiz at the end of 7 day free email course to access it). I'm much more aware now of how my eyes works and how to relax them.
There is also "human-friendly primer" on https://losetheglasses.org/

Quote from lil chick on July 21, 2020, 10:18 amI believe my eyesight went downhill because of VA. I used to have very good vision and made it to about 40 years of age before I needed glasses. AND I've always been a voracious reader.
My eyes became misshapen over time. (astigmatism). I'm thinking it was the head pressure for all those years. All those migraines and the tightness of the face and head.
I am a stubborn SOB and will only wear my glasses when I'm not able to function or legally need them.
Because I believe what you say, @jiri: the more you wear glasses, the more you need glasses.
I do wonder if SOME of my balance issues MIGHT be about that stubbornness to not wear glasses.
There is a home-study course called "The See Clearly Method". I once told my eye doc that I was doing it and SHE WARNED ME NOT TO DO EYE EXERCISES! She said that I would "wear out" the small muscles in the eye!
(shakes head) But it was enough to scare me off of the program. Instead, I just try to live without glasses as much as possible.
I use glasses to drive. In order to sew or see small print I wear both my astigmatism lenses and the lowest-powered readers. Darned if I'm getting bi-focals! Hubs got mad at me, because I look like a dork wearing two pairs of glasses, and he took an old pair of my glasses and bought the reader crescent and STUCK THEM ON THERE. LOL.

Quote from Matrixik on July 21, 2020, 11:11 amPeople on endmyopia also report fixing they astigmatism. It's less about doing exercises (Bates was living in different times) and more about proper use of eyes.

Quote from Rachel on July 22, 2020, 1:36 amWhat about long sightedness? I've looked at Bates method before and others and they all talk about short sightedness not long sightedness. I need reading glasses and am resisting getting my eyes retested as I am convinced getting stronger glassess makes my eyes deteriotate further.

Quote from Jiří on July 22, 2020, 2:04 am@rachel I think long sightedness is related to aging process. But you can improve that for sure by using your eyes more for wide range of distances and by improving your health overall. Good liver health is very important for eye health..
