Should we eat game meat?

I just read the whole thread about grass-fed vs grain-fed meat.

Here are some important quotes:

Based on the newer studies, consuming beef daily would get you to the RDA and above even if you eat no other vitamin A, according to these studies. So we have no idea of the order of magnitude of vitamin A in either grass fed or grain feed beef right now.
I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Glyphosate, other herbicides and also pesticides could be sprayed on any plants fed to a cow and could be in the water a cow drinks.
The common practice in the United States has been for feedlots to give vitamin A supplements. If an animal is given retinol or beta carotene supplements and then slaughtered a month after supplements are stopped, the meat will have VERY high retinol in it. Like off the charts high. The Chinese study is super clear about this. If the vitamin A supplements are stopped two months before slaughter, then retinol levels are closer to the baseline levels in the non-supplemented animals in that study (which themselves are also very high compared to database values).
If you buy meat at a chain supermarket, common sense says that you will have no idea which feedlot fed your cow and there will be no one to contact to ask whether vitamin A supplements are given.

I contacted a super wonderfully responsive and conscientious (and even all female owned!) regenerative ranch in Texas and the farmer is using some sort of multivitamin type supplement that includes all the fat soluble vitamins we are supposed to be avoiding: A, E, D. I hope she will send me the information on the specific supplement but the idea of finding organic/regenerative/grass-fed/whatever ranchers not supplementing with vitamin A in the United States is looking to be close to impossible.

I think the easiest solution might be to just start eating wild animals (like boar, deer, venison) to avoid glyphosate, pesticides, and vitamin A-suplementation.

This way you should be safe or do I miss something?

Btw I hate how avoiding poisons these days seems like a monumental effort.  It really is a strugge 🙁

It seems that this is a lottery - what the animal eats, we get so much VA. Unless we so avoid retinol supplements. It looks like the only thing we can do is pick the lean chunks, like Grant does.

I think the most prudent way to avoid VA in meat is to just eat the leanest cuts possible & limit eating it to once a day or so

Game meat is usually very lean too
