Sugar Cravings

What's your experience with sugar cravings? I get them quite often. I ameliorated them with some lemon water and eating lots of oatmeal. But I think maybe the lutein in oatmeal is problematic so I no longer want to have it, at least for now so I can experiment.

I remember @ggenereux2014 said he experimented with eating a lot of sugar on the diet and noticed no change in weight. I was wondering if you think sugar slows down detox at all? I know that is a theory from Garrett Smith.

When I have these sugar cravings I go for vegan chocolate, vegan ginger snap cookies, vegan chocolate chip cookies, etc... When I get these cravings fruit doesn't really satisfy me. The oatmeal and lemon water helped me stop reaching for these sweets, but I think the lutein in oatmeal started affecting me negatively.. I'm really not sure, but I think it negatively affected my blood sugar.

Just eat sugar. Sugar is the one of the smallest of worries. You can eat sun-dried raisins, or drink a red bull if you tolerate those, sugar your coffee if you drink coffee, use refined white sugar in any way you wish.

If the intake of PUFA is low, your body should have no difficulty in getting sugar into cells, no insulin resistance.

@salt I would be very careful with eating too much sugar(like more than 30-50g a day). When I say sugar I mean white refined sugar not sugar from fruits or grains.. Normal sugar will deplete your B vitamins especially B1, chromium, magnesium, zinc and the list goes on. Not to mention that sugar is 50% fructose and fructose can be very problematic. It can cause fatty liver, SIBO and all kinds of things.. Btw sugar cravings usually actually mean that the body is out of balance like micronutrient deficiency, stress etc.. So the body craves sweet things. I crave sugar and junk food when I am tired, under stress. It is natural reaction. But if you are rested, well fed and keep stress low there shouldn't be a reason for the body to crave sugar.. Simply sugar is just energy without any other benefit and people shouldn't make a habit that they need to add sugar everywhere, eat sweet stuff all the time etc.. Just look around how people who eat for taste and comfort look and how healthy they are... I don't want to be like them. I am proud on myself that I have some self discipline and when I say I will eat good diet to keep my body healthy and to look good. I will do it. If I eat junk food or sugar it is in 95% of cases conscious decision because I need those calories-energy, because I am active a lot or whatever.

Increasing my fat intake has decreased my cravings for sugar

I agree that sometimes I've got sugar urges but they are quite easily satisfied.  Like one cookie or a little maple syrup and I'm good.
