The End of the Forum

I am sorry this came about, but I realize that there is no other way.

Thanks unlimited to Grant who gave us our life back. I wonder if an excess of vA has not played tricks with the minds of the nay sayers. Blessings to all!

"Why do things have to change?"   Is something I say more and more as I get older.

This was one of my favorite forums ever.    Thank you, Grant for your idea and your site.

If I could persuade you to keep it open I would donate some money to its upkeep.   But I understand if you want to move on.

There is a large body of work here.   If it could just be kept here closed even without allowing participation, I think it would be a resource to those in the process of VA reduction.

Just one more thing.    Public forums are hard on participants and owners, and because I've been participating in them so long and been bitten so many times, I've grown thick skin about them.   In a way, I wonder if Grant jumped into the deep end of public forums by running this place, and I hope he walks away knowing that even if it was a pain in the bootie to him... I think he garnered a lot of good karma for himself.   Good on you, GRANT!!!!!

Thank you, Grant, for operating the forum as long as you have.  I am glad you will still have your blog.  And thank you for sharing your discoveries about "vitamin" A.

I hate it that I knew it was ending when discussions became a 'us vs them' debate on whether you really agreed with Grant or you were one of the ones who were 'smart enough not to'. It's not about that!! tribalism isn't going to end well. It doesn't foster growth. I completely agree with Grant's blog post. Debating never wins anyone over. Present the evidence you have, don't engage with trolling behavior, don't fight back when attacked, just ignore. The internet can be a cruel place, we wouldn't say a lot of this stuff face to face. But either way sounds like Grant needed to do patreon to keep it going, and this was the better option.

Some things I've learned:
-Binders are essential, I find beans and whole wheat to be the winning combo for bile flow and absorption. Experiment with different fibers. No eggs needed for me! Many success stories with soluble fiber.

-Coffee enemas may be helpful with really sludgy toxic bile in the beginning, there are many success stories on just this change on the internet

-You have to go all in with low fat <15% as fat calories. Or all in with ketosis >70% fat. Many success stories on either of these ratios. I don't want to do that so olive oil,  a bit of cheese and 90% ground beef seems to be working fine.

-Don't ignore salt needs. I may be wrong but I think it might be what caused Jenny's seizure. She was drinking a lot of water and took a hot bath before it happened. Low sodium is very dangerous. She did end up increasing salt but blaming the low vit A diet for her seizure. No idea how you make that leap. Maybe suffering from biology information overload? Decomplect.

-Minimize supplement use. High dose multi-b vitamins are dangerous due to b6 toxicity. (which by the way some of the symptoms on the list mimic vitamin A toxicity)

I think those are the most important things for me at least other than minimizing vitamin A and carotenoids.

Nice talking with you all! If anyone knows of any other places (besides the ray peat forum my username is InChristAlone) we can chat let us know! If someone made a new low vitamin A facebook group I would consider joining facebook just to join it.

I really agree with this.  Grant, do you mind shutting down comments, but leaving the content up?  Despite the bad actors, I've learned an awful lot on this forum.  This has been one of the best forums I've ever been on, a lot of thoughtful people sharing information that I never would have thought of.  I learned about the bean diet, I learned that egg choline can help some people, I learned about quark cheese and Swiss people living to be 100 years old, and things like that.

By the way, someone has taken up Grants work, although without the engineering rigor, and applied it to ALL the vitamins, and even mineral supplements.  The link is https://chemtrails.substack.com/  Yes, it is written in a tabloid style, I prefer Grant's rigor and writing style, but it really takes things forward in a lot of directions.  After demolishing vitamins, he shocked me by taking on dinosaurs.  When I saw what the first dinosaur skeleton discoveries were, I was really angry.

I can share that I've finally started losing weight once my ingrown toenails were fixed.  At the nail salon the women told me to come in every month.  At the end of every month, the ingrown nails were digging in again and making it painful to walk or hike.  It was low level pain, so I didn't really notice it, but it limited my mobility.  I came to Africa a few months ago, and since I saw my pedicurist every week for other reasons, she also checked on my nails.  After 6 weeks of checking and trimming and keeping the nails good, they are cured, the low grade stress is gone, and now other parts of my body and mind are healing, it is amazing what such tiny stresses can do to you to immobilize you.  If you can't walk comfortably, it is hard to lose weight.

I don't consider myself electrosensitive, but I've slept very well here; the blackouts and power outages on a national level are bad for business, but otherwise quite relaxing, and people have adapted quite well to doing with occasional electricity.  Seems people focus on each other more instead of on machines and screens.

Sarabeth Matilsky has asked me to post this for her:

"Can you say farewell to the kind folks on the low A list for me?   I do not think I will have time to post before Friday and I have so appreciated the support over the past five (!) years."

Me talking again:   I personally hope the forum does not shut down!    Can we have a U turn on this idea!?   Please?

@jiri I've often thought that the topic was quite simple and that was why sometimes traffic here isn't heavy.     Just cut back.   If a person has gotten themselves into this mess, it might be a mess to get out of.   But at least that person now knows that vitamin A has upper limits and that person will be smarter going forward.

BTW:   The forum lives on.
