Interesting. I used mag oil because of TMJ for a time, it was actually hard to get off because I'd experience rebound anxiety. I don't think my health was any better during the yr or so I was on it.

About magnesium there is something in the past. In Ancient Greece there were many temples for Asklipios, god of healing. Those were in fact hospitals when people resided until healed. They were fed exclusively from stuff grown in the garden attached to the temple. The gardens were made with earth carted from distant Magnesia, a place in what is now Turkey. Donations were paying for the shipping.
Another part of the treatment was deep sleep and evaluation of dreams. Sleep was induced by keeping some very big snakes near the bed. These snakes were known for their hypnotic (Hypnos = sleep) qualities. In fact they were subsequently very fashionable in Rome for this reason. It seems that all snakes have hypnotic qualities but these snakes were harmless and have a large brain, emitting more sleep.
