The Gut-Brain Axis: How does our microbiome affect detox and recovery?

Inspired by these episodes of the Huberman Lab Podcast and a recent message I received from a member of Garrett Smith’s Mighty Network, I thought I would start a thread to post research on fermented foods, fiber, and the microbiome.

There are probiotic strains shown in research to be neuroprotective, with the ability to decrease anxiety and depression and improve memory and cognition.

So how are some of the ways that fits into the chronic hypervitaminosis A hypothesis?

Many of the answers to that question have yet to be discovered. But with what we do know so far, I’m wondering if this might be a missing piece for many stuck in the detox setback?

I’m quite sure that improving the microbiome is utterly essential, so great idea for a thread @puddleduck

From the perspective of my recent obsession with B vitamins - the microbiome should make B vitamins. Some say this is our main source. If this is damaged, we get deficient in some and our ability to sustain the detox (which is demanding on our B vitamins) diminished. The precise problem and level of deficiency will depend on many factors and therefore be individual. If demand outweighs supply then we have an issue. The microbiome is key for this.
