The Niacin Fallout: 2000 mg, PEA, and the LYL Question
Quote from Javier on July 16, 2026, 6:36 amIt’s been quite a while since that sad and bitter breakup, whose most notorious catalysts were nicotinic acid and monosodium glutamate. I imagine more than a few of us—myself included—were expecting to see a flood of defectors with side effects and adverse reactions related to those substances.
Lately, the niacin protocol is being taken a step further, with dosages increased to 2000 mg/day and the addition of ‘PEA’ (palmitoylethanolamide). Those are already considerable amounts, and given that it’s been a long time since the controversy began, I wonder if it’s time to consider the possibility that LYL might be right.
Does anyone have any evidence or testimony on this?

But once the status quo is broken, good luck getting back to it! I mean it, I do wish everyone who has their status quo broken gets back to it. But it is much easier to stay healthy than to return to health.
If only there was a user manual for the human body! Until then, we will continue to run bad experiments.
My idea is to just live like my grandmother: she lived to 100... on regular food. And before anyone says she lived in cleaner times, she lived from 1914-2014. And you may not know this but the victorian and mid century eras were not that clean, actually. Try living in those historic homes, filled with lead, asbestos and even arsenic. We also have the advent of junk foods like Hostess pastries (where my grandfather worked) and Crisco.
I will say that the boring, basic, repetitive depression-era foods she was raised on (by inner-city, old-world immigrants) created several people of long life. 20 years extra life span for most of her siblings (over and above the norm).
