the prayer sign -- flexibility of hands

The prayer sign is an interesting thing and I think may relate to what Grant experienced regarding his hands and fingers straightening out over time. Although it is most associated with type 1 diabetes, the symptom is seen in various auto-immune disorders and in different variations.
I suppose it is the tightening and drying out of ligaments under the effects of chronic vitaminosis A.
My pinky fingers have ALWAYS been bent, I can't remember a time when they were not. However, I can touch my palms together. This makes me think that I must have had some early heavy exposure (perhaps during growth). It will be interesting to see if this changes over time, but given the length of time it has been this way, I kind of doubt it!

I too have exactly the same and remember even in school comparing my pinky finger to others and wondering why it couldn't bend flat.
Here's a study to support your claim anyway.

Perhaps a poll may be of good use here to try to establish a correlation?
