Thoughts on low fat diet

Ive come across some conflicting info within the community- on the forums Ive read somewhere that fats are important for liver function and to get the bile flowing going (ive read something similar in one of Grants older posts  also).

Garret Smith however seems adamant that dietary fats while force retinoids back into liver storage and thus hinder detoxification.

Personally I feel absolutely awful on a low fat diet (zero energy, brain fog, depression, constipation among others), so part of me feels I should carry on as I'm going with olive oil and some beef fat.  I also feel it might be a good idea to bite the bullet and feel shitty for a couple months on a low fat diet to hopefully then feel better.

So what's people opinion here is on a low fat diet?

I ate no added fat for most of the last year and felt fine on it.  Prior to this I was eating a lot of fat coming from a low carb background.  I can't say ,my diet was low fat because I still get a fair amount of fat from my meat but I stopped adding extra fat.

My only struggle is that I'm on the thin side and have recently been struggling to maintain my weight.  Due to this I now add a little of the meat fat (from the meat stock which I used to skim off and discard) back into one of my meals.
I couldn't face increasing the volume of food that I eat so I have turned to fat to increase my calories.

I think that underweight people need more fat than overweight people. Probably everyone has a Goldilocks amount. Garrett Smith says this & doesn’t recommend low fat for everyone. I’m on the overweight side but include fats in my diet in the form of nuts & seeds, olive oil etc I just don’t overdo it. Moderation is the key I think & finding what works for you.

@oliver People with fast metabolism needs more fats to slow everything down. People with low metabolism already have slow digestion and more fats slowing it even more is not good..  I would say you shouldn't go under like 50g of fat per day and if you are fast oxidizer and you are feeling better on more fats 150-200g can be ok, but you need to keep carbs lower.. Grant has extreme diet and I don't think it's healthy to keep fats that low...
