VA as a weapon

Thanks for that inside look into healthcare! yes I think the CDC pathogen units are way too beefed up. And I also think that DDT is a cause of polio paralysis. This only came in the summer months during spraying. I got myself through the pandemic by not being afraid. I was around sick people and didn't get sick. When I did get sick I wasn't around anyone! lol. That has always been the case for me.

We can't just throw out all pathogen science though. I think people who get cavities have a particular pathogenic strain of bacteria whereas those who don't get cavities don't. It's a bummer when you do have it, very hard to keep at bay. Needs constant attention. There are also horrible strains of bacteria that can cause food poisoning. Sure we could surmise some of the food poisoning is actually chemically induced, but we just don't have the evidence as of yet. Then we have the antibiotic resistant mutant bacteria. Again those susceptible may already be ill. But it's a bummer if you are ill and get it!

I think there is some excellent science in last 120 years on bacteria.  Amazing how slow it came along when I read the history of it.  Virology is a complete sham.

BTW, have you looked at any of the bacteria that produce retinols yet?  Amazing how many and how much.  That would explain a wide array of diseases that are pathogenic and are toxicologic at the same time.

In terms of dental health, I ate a horrible diet my first 21 years.   My best health in those years were the two where my Dad had a failing fast food business similar to Burger King.   We were short on funds and time.  I ate 4 hamburgers a day.

Aside from those two years, I ate horrific sugar fat standard American diet.  Huge amounts of sugar.  Youngest of 8 kids.  They were raised on powdered milk.  I got real milk.  Skim and 2%.  Lots of it.  I also brushed my teeth with baking soda.  They all made fun of me for it.  I was the only one with zero cavities.  I started using tooth paste when we got married.  Had eight amalgam fillings within 2 years.  Could not return to baking soda until I got those fillings replaced 7 years later.

Since then gums have been my only issue.  It seems like it is not just terrain vs pathogen theories.  It can be both.  Vitamin A and copper sure did set up my mouth for horrors.  Beef, vitamin K, nicotinic acid and zinc sure are getting me daily relief and protection.

Looking back I picked up WAPF ideas hard after those first 21 years.  Progressively more and more WAPF until 2022 when I crashed and found Grant and Garrett.  All those WAPF years were a horror for my gums and sinuses.

Yeah I think it can be both terrain and pathogen theory. I am mostly on the terrain end of the spectrum. Cavities can take many yrs to form, but it sounds like your wife had the bacteria! LOL! Sorry about that! It's passed on to intimate partners and your kids. And yeah my second was born after getting into WAPF and he had extremely weak baby teeth. And then for me Ray Peat stuff plus the high vitamin A destroyed my teeth, but I barely brushed during that time.

Disagree on the bacteria from my wife.  We both went back to baking soda and both did much better.  Had to wait until after we got rid of the mercury first though.  Horrific electrolysis with baking soda.  Convinced more and more it was what we were eating.  For kids being born am convinced it is what Mom ate and passed on to her kids pre and post natal.

Wow!    Super interesting take on all that.

I too went through a year on antibiotics for my rosacea and regretted it.   Seems like many of us here, and in the updates Joe has been posting, have been there and done that.   I guess I do believe that bacteria can become a problem, but viruses are a little more suspect.   It's weird that several of us, including myself suddenly aren't getting them.

And I do believe that conditions have to be right for bacteria to get a hold.

Antibiotics, steroids and surgery are what's on the menu when you enter a hospital.    Oh and chemo.    I do rant too much about hospitals though.    If I have a broken bone, for instance, I am glad to find myself there.

I get a lot of detox through my head and find that sometimes infections want to start.    Inside my nose, around the edges of my mouth, behind the ears, swimmers ear etc.   Cracks form and then infection.   Or zit and then infection.    Often, I think just good old vaseline will stop such an infection if caught early and I wonder if it is protecting the surface of the skin from the VA.    I once read a story about a baby who had horrible rosacea and it's mama found that good old vaseline relieved it.  She would wash the baby and then apply a thin coat.   She believed it was protective.    I have a little bit of rosacea left on my forehead, I will try an experiment.

I suppose we DO know that the world is trying to eat us in the form of parasites, fungus and bacteria.   Viruses do seem to be more mysterious than those others.

I believe that gum problems are from bone problems from VA (the tooth gets rough) and then the gums can't glom on anymore and bacteria start to get into places they shouldn't.   We have to fix up our bones to fix up our gums.   Sometimes I can feel my teeth going smoother and rougher over the course of time.   I can see how getting your teeth scraped by a hygienist might make them smooth for a temporary time, but the roughness will come back pronto.   My daughter always jokes about how the dentist says not to brush roughly then has the hygienist scrape the shit out of your teeth LOL.

One of the most deathly bugs of all time (killed one out of 7 people before antibiotics) has been TB and before antibiotics they cured it with fresh air, sunshine and the pastured-skim-milk cure.   And some people seemed resistant.    As we have realized, breathing is important to detox.   They would wrap people up with hot rocks and have them sleep outdoors even in the winter.   They would load them aboard ships for good airing and build hospitals with huge porches.   Interesting that they kept the patients quite still, no exercise.

My grandmother (not the one who lived to 100) died of TB and prior to that she had a nervous breakdown, I think precipitated by post partum.    I wonder if she had high VA.   I think we have also seen how VA overload can lead to anxiety.   I had a bit of post partum.

So are we getting anywhere with this thought process?   Where is this leading us?

scurvy is vitamin A toxicity, not vitamin C deficiency.  Vitamin C only shuts down slows down detox so that vitamin A toxicity symptoms get muted - for a time.  Linus Pauling died of the prostate cancer he started taking vitamin C for.   It did not cure the cancer only stalled it off by shutting down his liver.

zinc oxide / shea butter cream is infinitely safer and more effective than vaseline.

I'm looking forward to anything Grant comes up with in the area of infectious disease.   I think he has an interest in viruses.

To get back to the topic at hand, does the body use VA as a weapon?   Why do we get symptoms of VA toxicity when we have the flu?   Why does VA toxicity appear to be "over active immune system".  "Immune system run amok"?

I get that some people think that we don't have a handle on what viruses are, but they are obviously a whole list of unique SOMETHINGs.    Chicken pox is different than flu is different than cold sores etc etc.

Joe said "zinc oxide / shea butter cream is infinitely safer and more effective than vaseline."

You know I used to be anti vaseline, it has a horrible reputation among the "back to the landers"  but vaseline is amazeballs.   I'm surprised you would not have gotten the ick on anything made from plants by now such as shea butter.    Vaseline is so much better than coconut oil for healing up a crack.   I really just try to put the minimum of anything on my skin but when I do I want it to count.    Vaseline is in so many products that people put on their skin daily.    I sure hope it isn't as bad because if so we are all doomed.   My 100 year old grandmother used vaseline-based lotions daily.   I'm super sensitive to all sorts of things but vaseline never bothers me.   My re-acceptance of vaseline part of the up-is-down, right-is-left, everything-you-think-you-know-is-wrong phase of my life here.

You know, maybe it is somewhat like using charcoal, it's hydrocarbon.  We are part of this carbon-based eco system.   Add char to your garden and it grows great.

I used to want to be a herbalist and in studying I read a book by great writer Stephen Harrod Buhner.   He said that plants are like our parents and want to help us.   HA!   Up is down, down is up, and so forth.
