VitA - vitD sunburn connection
Quote from Liz on June 23, 2019, 9:00 pmMy fellow science nerds! Anyone out there who has read up on the vitA sunburn connection and could explain it to me in broad, or detailed, terms? As I have read different scatteted info here and there I dont have it fully grasped other than tanning is good because it helps detox.
Well I kindly overdid it the other day. Was out riding a bike in southern Greece for a few hours and ended up a bit deep fried on thighs and arms and home in northern europe I am usually extremely careful not to burn so I dobt kbow why I went full retard down here.
Anyway.
Burnt area were burning and itcing. A soapy shower took care of the itch and a bit of the burn too. Same happens when I sweat (and my armpit sweat is yellow (!!)) I itch a LOT but shower stops it. Is it because A is coming out of the pores?
Also, look at my thighs. They have small darker red dots on them. Vit A deposits wanting to come out? I have burned myself before but it never looked like that 🤔
All theories are welcome but studies even more appreciated. 🙂

Quote from lil chick on June 25, 2019, 8:30 amI don't have any studies but do you think you have "keratosis pillaris". (I have it too, on my arms particularly. Since ~12 years old) I wonder if you will see the condition (which some consider just a variant of normal skin) lessen where the sun toasted your skin? My arms are looking better with my sun baths.

Scientists are baffled that these disappear in summer!
"In fact, many people say the bumps clear during the summer only to return in the winter. "

Actually I dont. But I had on my arms before vit A diet. It went away in the first month. Keratosis pilaris is believed mainstream to be vit A deficiency but I am sure it is vit A toxicity. My red pored are only in the burned area not on my white skin. They are gone now though. Still red but no darker pores 🙂
