My late grandfather used to say that movement is life. I think I used to pay too much attention to diet and dietary supplements and not enough to movement. I led a relatively sedentary lifestyle. But recently I thought about the fact that almost all of us are genetically descendants of peasants who worked long hours in a day in the fields. This means that we are all probably adapted to move a lot, and the fact that we modern people move a little is a historical anomaly, which may lead to "diseases of civilization."

I heard a story about a guy who got panic attacks. He was sent to the country, where his grandfather forced him to plow the garden with a shovel, and he was healed. I also know of an Orthodox community under Elder John. People don't sleep much there and do a lot of manual labor. Many people were healed there. The community is located in a place with a good ecology, which is important to note.

Interesting fact: it used to be believed that movement helps with scurvy.
Another interesting fact: Studies show that those who do a lot of physical activity have a 26% lower chance of getting cancer than those who do little.
