Weird skin

My skin is weird. It is not dry cracks although it looks like it. It is just harlequin patterned and it keeps getting weirder. It looks like the darker areas are moving somehow. Could this be carotenoids breaking up or just a severely impaired melanin turnover/breakdown?

I in no way can diagnose this 🙂   but looks like connective tissue issues or stretch marks in the photo.   Retinoic acid definitely affects the connective tissues.    Was the pattern there before taking the new prescription you are on?  Only on legs?   Does the new prescription have a symptom list you can look at, skin issues etc...  any other patients reporting problems like this to your doctor?

It has been gradually getting a lot worse after starting low A for sure and also this winter probably after starting the meds the contrast has gotten worse.

Meds do not have any symptom at all related to skin issues other than dryness (normal for menopause) and yeah I am a bit surface dry but not nearly as powdery as I was before when detoxing the most. It looks like stretch marks (good point there) but it isn't. And it is only on my front chins but has started to spread towards my upper feet as well.

I do remember Smith saying somewhere that all types of birth control blocks one of the detox pathways and well gnrh isn't birth control but a hormone nevertheless which might be blocking A from coming out? Just brainstorming here. And I am not zinc deficient either..

Kind of sucks being the only one with shitty looking legs. But I have eaten tons of carotenoids in my adult life. Tons.

Edit: the white lines are the same color skin like I have on the rest of my body on areas not usually getting any sun. I think stretch marks are paler?

Hi @Liz, I do not know if it is related, but my husband and I (5 and 1/2 months into the diet) have been bleeding from small spots (one or two each not more, and it only lasted a day than made a crust) from the front of the shins.

Interesting to know that painful shins are an old diagnosis sign for beri-beri and Thiamine deficiency.

Good luck!

Ouch! Is it burning like fire and ithing too? My legs used to burn like fire and itch as well, I had horrible rash, almost bleeding and the pain was horrible. Later on into the diet it got a lot better and went away. Before I started supplementing with B's I also had small red almost bleeding itchy spots every now and then especially after eating butter. Haven't had any itch or rash in probably maybe a year now? Interesting about the thiamine connection.

It looks like a mild case of cornification. I have it on my legs, torso, and the backs of my hands.
