Which are the permissible cuts of meat

Hi

Since past 6 months I started eating beef regularly , I would mostly eat sirlion cuts of beef , 20% fat and 80 % lean . It was grass fed and I experienced it would only give me bit of discomfort regarding symptom flare up if I eat it without rice . But again those symptom flare up were mild enough to be omitted . And this was ofcourse without the gelatin . So I think it wrong to eat meat that way ?

I got fed up of eating beef , so I decided to go with goat and lamb meat instead , And I realized Our traditional way of preparing meat was the best , we would slow boil all the gelatinous cut of lamb ( shank , shoulder and all other pieces) together in a pressure cooker or pot and have it with same meat soup  produced and rice . PS. : Traditional ways were always healthy . I remember in my village back home my grandma always giving us a lot of meat soup from that dish . RIP

So I was wondering eating fat cuts of meat would slow down the progress or saturated fat important during detox ? . Does animal fat contain lot of retinol and we don't immediately become too reactive to it as compared to beta-carotene which needs to be converted  to another form before use ? Is lamb / goat meat good for us ?

I never eat fattier cuts than 5%. I mostly do 5/95 ground beef now a days, but will also sometimes have leaner whole steaks with 2-3% fat, never more. The reason is that I experienced an acute bettering in my symptoms when I ate meat with 15% fat like hamburgers and steaks (like rib eye) back when I was much more VA toxic and didn't know about VA toxicity. It would give me the same feeling as eating eggs (increase in dopamine and testosterone- type feeling). G. Smith has also talked about how one can get addicted to VA, and I think this was my case. So that's why I think there is too much VA in 15/85 for me. Technically, it would probably be okay to eat that fatty meat, because my goal is to be under 150 IU a day, and I don't eat that much meat anymore. But I'm staying on the safe side because of my experience. And I also much prefer the taste of lean beef nowadays anyway.

If I get tired of beef, I eat chicken, turkey, lamb, or cod actually. Any lean meat, except pork, is good, as I see it.

@pinetreefire it doesn't matter how much fat the meat has before cooking. You can always discharge the fat that melted away. I am eating chicken/turkey thighs and during cooking I discharge all melted fat away. I even rinse the fat from the meat during cooking. So those thighs are basically low fat as breasts.. I eat also ground beef 20/80. I made them also in the pan with water. So basically 99% of fat melts away to the water. So even when it was 20% fat now it is basically under 5%.. But I eat the fat melted in the water. I add some home made gelatin from pig feet and add this liquid to my rice. It is tasty and I think beef fat is ok. Low vit A and low in PUFA fats. Fats from poultry is high omega 6 and more vit A so I don't eat it..

@jiri True, but I don't use water when I cook meat. I agree, beef fat is probably the safest fat, but I really enjoy eating very low fat so that's a big reason I don't buy fatty cuts. True about the poultry, when I eat chicken, which is not often, I always cut away as much fat as possible.

@pinetreefire I also like more baked meat, from grill with brown spots.. But I believe that only healthy way to cook meat is raw or with water so lower temperature and with no creation of carcinogens etc.. If I had meat like 4 times a week it doesn't matter, but I eat meat 3 times a day.. I also just started with weight training. So I will probably start to eat even more heh.. I want those 50cm arms again. But this time natural, healthy way.. 🙂

When I ate Paleo, I ate tons of meat, and I got really good results from weight training. Also, when I started the VA detox and the first few months I ate like 600g beef, but nowadays I only eat maybe on average 150g once a day. It varies a lot, some days I eat more, and some days zero actually. I try to follow my intuition and appetite mostly, but I hope its not too little because I might be missing out on some micronutrients. Well, time will show, and I am confident my body will tell me if I need more meat. I also weight train and have maybe gone down a little bit in strength the last month, but my training is so inconsistent so it´s too early to tell.

You mean you think raw meat is the healthiest?

It is not about meat. It is about amino acids. You can't store them. So ideally you should eat meal with protein every 4 hours at least.. I would say 1,5g for every kg of bodyweight is minimum especially when you are detoxing vit A. Also the quality is important. Protein from vegetables is great for herbivores. But for us it is maybe fiber source. If your only source of animal protein is meat and you are eating only 150g. It is far from enough. I eat every morning 200g beef burger + 2x200g chicken or turkey thigh meals + some gelatin + some beef/pork sausages sometimes and it is like nothing to me.. I think eating more than 600-700g of meat is not ideal. So I will add some whey protein soon.. RIght now I don't eat too much protein, because I don't work now. But once I start work(some manual labor job for sure..) + training I would need 2,5-3g per kg of bodyweight to recover from 10 hours of work every day + even gain some muscles for sure.. Most people eat like a birds. So they are in catabolism 24/7..
