Your brain needs glucose

PreviousPage 10 of 10

Backed off on the dextrose, if I have say couple tablespoons throughout the day I get insomnia, that feels like high stress hormone related, same experience on Isocort years ago, dropping blood sugar too low and cannot recover so sleep is wrecked.  I suspect doing the massive amounts would probably help this though, maybe need to experiment with that later this summer.  Or some think small amount distributed in shorter time frames across the day is better, steady supply, no roller coaster blood sugar.

Right now just replacing any small amounts of sucrose I use with dextrose seems beneficial, better bowels and sleep not disturbed so much.  I do wonder if mega amounts would help me in long run, continue to watch the experiments on RPF.

Like @orion I am stopping the dextrose experiment after 5 weeks.  Sleep was mostly okay but there were several nights where I couldn't go back to sleep for 2 hours.  I didn't take the dextrose close to bed because of that.  The main reason I am quitting is that I am experiencing what feels like high estrogen.  Maybe it is because it isn't being removed from the bile.  Or maybe the bile isn't being released from the liver.  I don't know but even after I upped the bean consumption to 5 times per day instead of 3 the symptoms only got worse.  I can see why a person would need to consult with Dr. Stephens to get the help and encouragement to go through this.

I'll use dextrose in baking for now.

Hey all! Wondering if anyone is still on the glucose protocol? If you are, what’s your dose and any changes to health? If you are no longer on the protocol can you share why you stopped and what dose you were at?
