A new paper published by Anthony Mawson
Quote from Jenny on May 5, 2023, 2:42 am@joe I’m jaj not Jenny on the link btw! But that’s irrelevant. I could write an essay in answer to your question, however, I’m not going to. I’m in fragile health and stress is not good for me, nor is screentime. You’ll have to find out for yourself I’m afraid. I’ve done with my warnings and my analysis of where GS has gone wrong. I have nothing to do with him nowadays and I was heavily involved. I’m an ex-research scientist and a PhD and I’m after the truth. I fully support Grant and Anthony Mawson work. That’s in a different league.

Quote from Deleted user on May 6, 2023, 1:42 pm@jaj I have a few decades researching and experimenting for myself with others. I am much like Grant. Amazing what we can glean from public data when we look. I am fine with finding out for myself. That is how it works.
FWIW, publishing doubts about someone with zero data to back a claim is as close to ad hominem as I want to get. The claim was made that GS went wrong but there was no analysis posted. Thank you for the history on fiber. I will start digging on Hurd a bit. I expect like Grant and Anthony that by now she has come up with more and better on fiber. Hope you feel better soon and make fast and strong progress.
Also FWIW, I doubt I could make the progress I have made with Grant's and Garrett's work without the previous decades of research and experiments. I did SAD std amer diet for 20 years, then lacto ovo for 14 (with a year of vegan). I also did a few months of fruitarian and other elimination diets single foods as well. Then 15 years of zone 40-30-30 diet and 12 years of paleo keto. Where I stubbed a toe was while looking at carnivore without trying it, I did try increased beef liver intake. After decades of cod liver oil and other VA foods, that beef liver was easily the tipping point.
So that is my sad story. The silver lining is that this background allowed me to understand and apply Grant's and Garrett's ideas aggressively with minimal mistakes and downside risks. I knew from long experience what to go slowly on and what to persist. Given this last year of experience, my only advice to anyone today is to read and study everything from everyone as fast as possible. I think that can still apply for you.
Thank you and feel better soon.

You can easily go back and look at pasts posts by Jenny and see her reasonings or if you are a member of the LYL program you can see where she constructively and scientifically disputes Smith's "theories." for years. I, personally, have no scientific background. If someone tells me that something works this way and not that, I would tend to believe them with the understanding that they know more about it than me. That's my naivety and that's on me, I don't really know what I don't know. Jenny, on the other hand, has a background in research, science, & nutrition. Unfortunately, while Smith may be right about a lot of this stuff, he seems to think he's right about everything and the naive will believe it too. I think she just wants people to realize he is fallible, because he often will not admit to mistakes.

If your comment is implying I’m doubting someone’s work without analysis you are missing my point. I’ve written numerous comments over the last couple of years explaining exactly what I think is wrong and why. And I’ve told the person in question. My point is I’m now really ill and I’m simply not spending time explaining anymore. If you didn’t mean that please ignore. I shall not be engaging in any more discussion. So bored of this nonsense.
Thanks @pattycake. Just seen your comment. Really appreciate it. That’s exactly my motivation. I want to save people from making serious mistakes. I tried for years to help make Garrett Smiths programme the best it could possibly be, to help people. But I eventually had to admit defeat and leave. I now need to think of myself and ignore my tendency to be a ‘helper’ type because trying to tell people often ends in attacks that cause stress and worsen my health. I need to step out of this vicious cycle. I can’t save the world. I need to save myself.
Thanks @joe

Thank you for assuming nothing about what I may or may not imply. I stated clearly that you provided zero evidence about a claim. So glad you refrained from labeling anything I wrote here as nonsense. I too will not reply further on this thread. Seems contrary that I need to find your pertinent past posts to support your claim.
This is not an argument. It is stating facts about this exchange. Being the excellent scientist that you stated you are, you are sure to understand the reason that claims made require proportional evidence.
Considering all the fraud uncovered this last century of research, I am like minded to Garrett. And probably Grant. I am not convinced by expertise. Ever. The test of expertise is if a person can clearly quickly explain their topic in a busy fast food joint to a hungry 10 year old on a Saturday morning with a crayon on a place mat. The test is how well the 10 year old explains it to someone else. This does not include the test of the concept itself. That is called replication. So far all of Grant's and Garrett's theories that I have the pleasure of testing are replicating well and were easily grocked by this 10 year old level mind.
We all do not know what we do not know. Likewise, 99% of what we know is wrong. Doubt it? Then why are you here? Anyone here is either a troll or no longer believes most of the tripe we believed. I am old enough to remember my chem teacher teaching us how to make margarine. Once finished we all asked how it could be sold as healthy let alone at all. Then he taught us how to make LSD. One of my best teachers. He appealed to our expertise. He uniformly brought receipts.
Just because someone claims something does not make it true. That goes for all of us. Smith seems to recognize his fallibility. He changes his mind often enough to be a normal honest person. Meanwhile, he makes a point of bringing up links to evidence on each claim he makes. That was not done here. And now I am being told it is my responsibility to provide evidence for someone else's claim. Guess that makes me naive?
So far the scenario that seems most likely to be most accurate is that Jenny and Garrett disagree on some point and neither will give in on their stance, so one or both is characterizing the other as unreasonable.

Quote from Jenny on May 7, 2023, 12:18 amErrr no. You have it wrong. Replies always reveal a lot about the poster and not any truth about the topic. I’m now getting irritated so I won’t be engaging here again for a while. My aim was simply to warn. I don’t like to see people making mistakes that could harm their health. Particularly now that we have the knowledge to protect.

Quote from Andrew B on May 7, 2023, 2:10 amJenny was right about the need for B vitamins as co factors in enzyme reactions. She also got publicly rebuked by Garrett Smith in Vitamin A Toxicity group for mentioning that the detox uses up B vitamins. Now we have Wednesday's livestream between about 1:30:00 and 1:36:00 where GS is referring to a weird choline community in Grant's forum and suggesting folate is the reason for choline deficiency (which is only partially true). He also misunderstands choline replenishment and not everybody can make endogenous choline sufficiently even with a working healthy liver. He also says the detox uses up nutrients. So we have come full circle with Garrett casting doubt on choline replenishment whilst inadvertently confirming Jenny was right all along from at least 2 years ago. If you get person after person saying they found GS unwilling to admit his mistakes then you might catch on to what's going on. Between us we have a catalogue of errors but worst of all is his response to any criticism whatsoever. That's not how you conduct an experiment by shutting out your best helpers and trained professionals like Jenny. Caveat emptor.

Now I know why you and Garrett recommend him. Need to drill down through his work. Has you had a chance to talk with Mawson? Is he familiar with you or Garrett?
@Tommy I remember those studies on rabbits when they were used to vilify red meat, eggs,.......
If memory serves it is always a bad idea to feed herbivores meat, milk and eggs.
@alexm Those are good questions. Given the content in this paper my bet is Mawson has linked dietary fiber with removing vitamin A from the body the same way Garrett and Grant have. Perhaps, Garrett and Grant got the idea from Mawson?
Hi @joe,
Yes, Anthony Mawson and I have been in contact a quite a bit over the last 6 years or so. We've become good friends over that time.
Anthony Mawson has been investigating vA, both its role as a vitamin and as a toxin for over 30 years. He is actually the pioneer in really understanding cholestasis and toxic bile spillage causing disease. It is the core thesis in many of his papers.
Yes, Anthony is very much aware of what we are doing in this project.
Would be great to hear a discussion between the two of you. Starting a podcast might be a worthwhile endevour.

Quote from El on May 16, 2024, 10:35 amA carrot salad (shaved lengthwise, with coco oil and vinegar) a day will improve your life in more ways than one.
It is germicidal and anti-microbial, will sweep out endotoxins, detox PUFAs, bind to and remove bile and estrogen, lower cortisol by preventing reabsorption of estrogen, improve digestion and protect from oxidative stress and inflammation.
But too much carotene, like in large amounts of carrot juice is not recommended.
Ray mentions that carotene can work like unsaturated fats in blocking thyroid function and progesterone function.
This is because carotene can accumulate in tissues and interfere with the conversion of cholesterol into progesterone, which is a process that requires good thyroid function and vitamin A.
When carotene accumulates, it can block the action of vitamin A, leading to hormonal imbalances and affecting adrenal steroid production.
It is very simple that they developed this disease due to toxic accumulation of iron without vitamin C and without copper. Iron is toxic, hence why they have that disease

Quote from El on May 16, 2024, 10:48 amI have an anecdote for you. Since I eat two kilos of oranges a day, two lemons, a little meat, dark chocolate and milk, my liver enzymes have returned to the values of my youth. with the vitamin A rich sweet potato and broccoli my liver enzymes were bad and high. with the beans my liver enzymes were very high. Soluble fiber is not necessary. insoluble fiber yes. I also drink two liters of milk a day. The beans made me sick, also the broccoli and the sweet potato. On the other hand, whole milk makes me feel incredible next to oranges. Does anyone know why?
