blackening of armpit, groin etc. acanthosis nigricans
Quote from lil chick on March 1, 2021, 6:27 amThis thread is for theories about Acanthosis Nigricans. Let's call it AN (for short). I invite you to post your ideas or experiences with it here.
I think it is a visual example of poor VA detox and perhaps also dye absorption from clothing.

Quote from lil chick on March 1, 2021, 6:38 amThis is my theory: We know that VA leaves the body in various ways: breath, feces, urine, and sweat. We see yellow stains on our pillows, our collars, the pits of white shirts. I'm betting what is happening is that VA is trying to leave the body through the sweat (etc) and isn't properly escorted. OR perhaps it is improperly re-absorbed.
I think AN is literally a visual clue of detox struggles and is therefore HELPFUL. (LOL)
VA is hard on everyone, but it is hardest on people who can't get rid of it. You are maybe stopping the INFLUX of VA to the body, but you still have to deal with the VA load you already own.
I've surfed a bit on alternative and main stream cures for acanthosis nigricans and they make me think that what is needed are things like zinc, vitamin C, b vitamins etc. Perhaps it's lucky that topical application is possible. Or perhaps the cure must come from inside.
I would also wonder about the direct application of sunshine, clay, charcoal, oil, scrubs, gentle acids like vinegar or lemon juice.
I suspect that other symptoms like hemorrhoids, sore urethra, sore crack, sore butt hole, sore crease behind the ear, even sore nose and asthma symptoms could also be the problem of badly escorted VA leaving the body (or improper re-absorption).
It is interesting that it appears that when people get their diabetes under control they have lessening of Acanthosis Nigricans (AN). Some people on Metformin see AN reduce. And so I would wonder if keeping your blood sugar lower helps the body shuttle VA better or hinders re-absorption in some other manner.

Quote from lil chick on March 1, 2021, 6:41 amMy AN has actually gotten worse with time on lowered VA! Which I think is an overt sign that I need something I'm not getting ... in order to properly detox.
I have been going through midlife hot flashes in these same two years, and extra sweating could account for the increase.

Quote from lil chick on February 15, 2023, 5:56 amCould this blackening at the armpit, groin, neck and other places also be DYE from clothing activated by sweat and leaking into the pores? Do these deposits actually become visible with time and repetition?
Possibly the leakiness of the surfaces of things in VA toxicity is involved. Possibly the over-busy detox pathways are also involved.

Quote from lil chick on February 15, 2023, 6:22 amI am cross linking to the post I'm currently hanging out on that is related --regarding a reaction to clothing that I'm still trying to clear up. It involved both dyes and elastic. Elastic also contains dyes, BTW, and is present often in the legholes of underpants where A.N. happens.

Quote from lil chick on February 15, 2023, 6:34 amAs I stated over at the other thread, I think the answer is to wear white, undyed or light clothing as your base layers in winter, and as all your layers in summer. I wonder if doing that might free up detox resources!
Edited to add: after a time trying to live this way I got very bored with it. But I do like to mix whites into my clothing options, and especially for first layers.

Quote from lil chick on April 4, 2025, 5:06 amInteresting that there is a soap with retinol that is purported to help this condition. I suppose this might be somewhat like how retinol facial creams "help" (perhaps causing the problem to resurface elsewhere?). (or by taking you from detox mode to storage mode?).
