Quote from Hermes on April 1, 2022, 4:02 am@beata-2It's interesting that you bring up the bible. I haven't thought about it. If you look at generational curses from a health perspective, they become something different, something we can much better relate to. I've read stories of people who suffered in strange ways. Someone had the feeling she had to burn. Working with someone who was experienced in epistemological psychology uncovered that she was feeling guilt for the fact that her grandmother survived Nazi Germany who herself was feeling this way but never really acknowledged it. I wonder in what ways I keep family drama pent up in my body that I haven't acknowledged and somehow addressed. This is the part where I find it gets really messy, and I struggle to truly work with emotional and spiritual concepts. I think we talked about this in a previous post, and you mentioned how food is just an easy venue for a sense of control. But what if there is more to our lives than just what we can experience with our senses? Emotions, memories, traumas, that's all invisible. And there is probably even more.To be doomed sounds like a terrible outlook. It's a strong word. I think you do what you can to make your life more enjoyable. You have a specific idea of what you want in your life. And that's good. You have overcome so many things already, as far as I can remember. It's an arduous process, totally frustrating at times, and then there are those windows where you get a peek of how things could really be for you. The good days. I think it's worth trying to better our lives because if we don't, we certainly won't be successful.I can relate to this sentiment of being doomed though. For me, it's there when I feel as if I don't get the social support I need. As long as things are not too challenging, or I feel just fine in my skin, the feeling stays in place. It only consumes me when I start to feel stressed.Recently, I rediscovered my faith in God. It's a peculiar time. I've read the book: A better way to pray by Andrew Wommack. He talks about speaking with authority in prayers, we don't need to argue with God over things we want in our lives. We need to assert them. So I've been trying to implement this idea of speaking with boldness and faith. Instead of whining about the bad situation in my life to God, I speak to the problem: You are making my life miserable, you bodily aches, you rob me of the focus I need, what do you think your end game is here? And so I try not to lament to God but speak to the things which trouble me. This changes my perspective. At least it is a change in focus as you suggest for yourself.

However, I don’t want the past negative experience colour my life in dark shades, regardless whether or not I presently experience negative health outcomes.
My own quest for improvement led me to the no-dual spirituality and that has been helpful on many levels. But oftentimes I drop into the realm of the ego and forget everything I viscerally feel about life from the spiritual perspective.
I think that faith in God or something greater that our little Earthly existence is very helpful in all aspect of life and health, so good to hear Christian that you are finding your ways at easing the burdens. Whether a prayer when you talk to God or meditation when God talk to you - it is all a part of what makes are humans.
@pierre, my sincere apologies for hijacking your post on the activated charcoal and apple pectin.
From my experience, activated charcoal is great in any sort of digestive troubles. My daughter successfully used apple pectin for her gallbladder pain. So, they both have a place when used judiciously. Apple pectin as a source of soluble fibre is very useful for bile clearance, therefore probably really great for VA detox.

Today is my first day as a member to the forum. I learned of this site about 6 days ago and started the low VA diet that night. My profile has the story.
@puddleduck, @christian, @beata-2 and @pierre,
Thank you for starting this post. I have been interested in activated Charcoal. I like the idea of starting Puddleduck's q12h regimen of
1 teaspoon charcoal
1 teaspoon clay
2 teaspoons psyllium huskI am confused on how to do this exactly. Do you mix them up dry and swallow? Do you put them in applesauce or another carrier? I take AM and PM Rx medications as well as vitamins with my 2 meals a day. What is the best way to coordinate the dosing of this regimen with my other pills?
Christian, I loved these two statements of yours: It's also good to be courageous and I think it's worth trying to better our lives because if we don't, we certainly won't be successful.
Very wise and prophetic. I am a "bloom where you are planted" type- thankful to be blessed with that outlook. As I too rediscover my faith (was not raised with any faith but did seek it out as a young adult), I have always found it helpful in prayers to first name every thing I am thankful for and then ask for help in the things I am struggling with. I started this during the blessing of the sacrament, eucharist, etc- doing one while the first is passed and the other while the second is passed. I can no longer attend church in person (no immune system- see profile for details) so I do this in my daily prayer at home.
I am concerned with heading off the detox symptoms. Could anyone expand on the symptoms they experienced so I know when it is hitting? Also what have been your best strategies for dealing with them?
I appreciate your time and courteous consideration of each other. It has been a delight reading this thread.
Oh- I found the link for the free ebook on Autism mentioned. You can download it here and I put it right into "Books" on my iPad for easy reading: https://archive.org/details/healing-the-symptoms-known-as-autism-second-edition-9780989289023s_202011

Quote from Hermes on April 4, 2022, 2:42 pm@beata-2In regards to trauma that you bring up as something influential in our development, it's important to remember that also little t traumas matter. It's not only the big traumas that are obvious to point out that impact our lives. It took me a while to understand that small and hurtful can accumulate and turn into bleeding wounds. You're right in saying we're spiritual beings, you implicate it. This makes us humans. It's probably a good sign when we seek out spiritual help in our lives. To me, it means we're alive and hungry for more. Not to say it's easy, in day-to-day life there is a lot of distraction, for me it's TV shows that I can mindlessly watch for ours. Spirituality needs to be cared for like a flower you water, otherwise it runs dry. I hope I remember that.

So, what I've noticed with daily activated charcoal (one teaspoon, two times daily) fungus starts to grow between my toes, when I stop, it starts to recede. What's going on there? I'm thinking that I deplete important vitamins (B1 that I suspect I'm low on, sadly, I can't supplement it b/c it's a sulphur-based vitamin, and sulphur is trouble for my gut) and minerals with it. As of Saturday evening, I stopped with the ACV and took zeolite instead (two times daily, 5 g). With zeolite I get calmer, almost so relaxed I want to nap at times that it's not possible for me to do.
As for sleep, not sure how it's affecting me. Maybe a little early to tell. I hope zeolite is also able to bind toxic bile that carries vA.
Has anyone of you guys experienced any negatives from activated charcoal?

The charcoal can't be put in the mouth and washed down with water. I tried that once, and I ended up coughing really badly afterwards. The powder is really fine and sticks everywhere in the mouth. What I do instead: I put a teaspoon of it in a mug and slowly add some water to it. If you pour in the water too quickly, the charcoal will dissipate in little clouds and mess the sink with spillovers. And then I stir it for some time until the charcoal is fully dissolved in the water. I don't have any experience with clay and psyllium husk. The zeolite is easier to handle: I dig a teaspoon in the container with the zeolite and put it in the mouth, I pour it down with some water. It tastes a little chalky, but I've tried so many supplements, almost nothing makes me gag anymore. 🙂
This is cool that a sentence resonated with you. Thanks for mentioning it. 🙂
As for praying, one thing we might forget as Christians, God already set us free. We don't need to argue with him or beg him for a thing, we can speak with authority over our lives: "God, this disease is putting me down so much, you know this. In the name of Jesus, I command my body to be healed completely." Compare this to: "God, it hurts so much, I don't like the way it feels. I can't continue like this, and it has already been going on for years now. Seriously, how long do I have to wait until you move me? How many times have I asked you about healing?" The first voice is one that speaks confidently, that trusts God is there and will heal. The second voice whines, blames God and expresses bitterness. I say all this to remind us that we have been given power by God. He says: If you ask, it is given. In the invisible world it's already done, now all we need to do is put in faith God asks to see our prayer request manifested. It's faith that moves the mountain. Now, what I struggle with is entering a state of worship where I commune with God, stay in his loving presence. It's as if too many things distract me.
I like how you thank God for all the good in your life. It's easy to forget all the little things that are functioning well in our lives. When I think about it, I do it before I fall asleep.

Quote from puddleduck on April 4, 2022, 5:49 pmWelcome here, @grace! It's lovely to meet you, and I'm so glad you've joined the forum and started posting. 😊
Just read your profile story, and I can relate to your isolated living situation--mine has been similar since the pandemic started. I'm glad you have a roommate and your tiny doggies for company out in the country! ❤
Regarding the powders, what Christian said! People have actually asphyxiated by breathing in activated charcoal, so it's not something you want to be coughing out in plumes if you can avoid it. I find mixing the clay and charcoal together, then slowly adding the water works best. I stir in the psyllium after the glass is full so it doesn't clump, and let it hydrate for a few minutes before drinking (it kind of gels in water, which is what you want it to do, apparently).
According to Karen Hurd (a nutritionist who advocates a therapeutic bean diet), even soluble fiber can grab onto medications. So it's a good idea to take charcoal/clay/psyllium two hours before or after meds.
Detox symptoms for me typically involve gut/digestion changes and irritability. For others, it can be a flare-up of insomnia, or any other unpleasant symptom triggered by higher levels of vitamin A circulating throughout the body. It can be quite individual.
Sometimes the "detox symptoms" are actually just nutrient deficiencies caused by the detox pathways "burning through" vitamins and minerals more rapidly. Dr. Garret Smith now sells a mineral supplement to support those on the detox. Many of us have found B vitamins and other such nutritional supplements helpful, too.
Also, for me rest has been super key (I have been often bed bound as well), which I'm sure you're used to dealing with what you are. Some of us can tolerate sunlight and exercise. They're huge mood boosters for those who can! But they can also trigger increased vitamin A detox, so... Gotta listen to your body and respect your limits. Don't push yourself too hard, and remember you can always back off a bit on anything that is making you feel worse, before trying again slowly if you chose.
I hope that helps! And I hope you see some more positive changes as you continue.
Oh and thanks so much for sharing the link to the book! I couldn't get the one on the official website for some reason.

on Faith and Prayers, thank you for speaking so plainly in how God is direct, as we should chose to be. I am rather simple in this regard, as you might intimate. I use the word ‘ask’ in the sense of meekness before God. I come from a genteel culture (US- Southern) with certain societal codes of decorum. Directness is in my nature as is a polite deference and wry sense of humor.
So much is lost in a completely written format.
i do have some experience both personal and professional with reactions to trauma. A common trauma- say living through Katrina (a large hurricane to hit New Orleans in August 2005) was a distinct event but will have as many different reactions as those touched by it’s power and devastation. I chose this event precisely for this reason. Incredible bravery might be required by some who emerge seemingly more resilient. The aftermath of bravery might crumble another. Examples can be made in innumerable experiences of this one event and its ripple effects- ongoing, but novel, traumas in the days, months and years hence.
This type of event can also impact a person physically with an immediate external injury and/or with a developing injury (mold exposure) over later periods just as with psychological and financial upheavals.
I did not personally live though this event but possess an imagination and traumas and micro traumas of my own (and psychological and medical training in such) sufficient to empathize with suffering- physical, medical, psychological, long term, short term- as you might imagine I consider this a blessing but it can also be overwhelming. I seek to understand my own capacity for offering assistance to those in need without debilitating myself. As the years pass and my own health worsens I must be more mindful of my changing, diminishing physical (and even emotional) capabilities.
I digress really though from my response- an example of getting caught within the example of suffering. Along with a thankful heart, I have an open heart and understand your discussions, emissaries really, on trauma, micro trauma and accumulating traumas.
I possess no prophetic wisdom and cannot certainly claim to have healed myself. Physical traumas can also (and unfortunately) manifest as somatic ones- sadly as this usually portends the turning of trauma into a chronic state. I guess my personal solution has been both one of service and more fundamentally to not allow them to ‘stack’ within. Of course new ones will come, by being active in the healing- a process is working within you as life carries onward.
For me, I can claim no method for unsticking and active healing- I believe these are personal, unique journeys- but ones that are honest, true and existing in our lives. So much in life is locating the right key for each lock.
To quote Paul Simon “good things come, and good things go, what are you going to do about it? That’s what I’d like to know” from Just Call Me Al
This reverberates in my mind as I see Chevy Chase march around- a bit of levity in this most heavy of topics.

My roommate did find Activated charcoal capsules but they seemed expensive and the place (a grocery store) didn’t have the clay so he is going to check a CVS tomorrow. He has to go into the city everyday for work so it’s nice to have a ‘personal shopper’. I would much prefer to do for myself but you are so right when you say- Know your limits and respect them.
i was a competitive swimmer and water polo player. I even dabbled in synchronized swimming. I have access to an outdoor pool (winter keeps wanting to hang on) but I will be out there near dusk time (photophobia and melanoma) as soon as it heats up a bit more. That is the safest exercise for me- I can’t fall down! I also love the water so it is movement- usually lap swimming- that actually draws me in.
I do have a Super B and was surprised to see it has both 100mg of Thiamine and Riboflavin. So I just increased to 2 qam with my morning Rx meds so they would all be on an empty stomach. So I guess that puts the powder mix drink- sounds yummy…- to after breakfast. I too need a lot of sleep- like 10-12 hours. So spacing those 12 hours apart is going to be tricky.
Should I begin this as soon as I get the components or wait until detox symptoms start? Thanks again!

But I wanted to ask, since apparently I missed something. One, I thought B vitamins (or any vitamins/minerals) should be taken at the same time as a meal, not on an empty stomach, since in nature they occur in food and would be processed/digested likewise. Two, why would you need to split up your sleep hours? (mine get split naturally with middle-of-the-night wakings, lol!)
