Just watched Meri Arthur´s most recent video and wow there is lots of fascinating thought provoking stuff in there.

That latest video really does explain her thoughts on why eggs are good, and retinol is needed.  Really enjoyed watching it, and excellent that she works directly with clients and sees real world responses to this knowledge.

Also could be the explanation for the VA detox setbacks some people are experiencing.

Thank you so much @inger. This is outstanding and deepens my understanding of the various issues I’ve experienced especially in light of my recently discovered homozygous CBS C699T polymorphism.

Meri updated it a little last night

Meri´s work could really be helping people avoid the detox setback issue. I am so thankful for the knowledge.

The video is kind of technical, but at the end there were some interesting suggestions that seemed pretty logical to me, like stopping alcohol (which has helped me a lot) and a description of why warm epsom salt baths help you sleep.   Small amounts of vitamin C through the day, even the idea to take a small amount of "fresh" retinol daily... My mind wants to throw out the candida idea though, just the candida idea never helped me much.   It could be my particular problem was more about other things.

We have to know that she works with the sickest population, those with genetic defects. So that's where some of the comments seem extreme.

She brought up very new things to us! Has anyone even heard of anhydroretinol? We thought the thing to watch out for was retinoic acid! It sounds like our understanding is way off! She said meat has plenty of retinoic acid! I always did wonder about that. Maybe the rat study was high in anhydroretinol and not retinoic acid? It sounds like that is more toxic? Can it be seen on tests?

Also she keeps saying we need fresh retinol, but what about the large stores in the liver of retinyl palmitate? Is that considered 'fresh' retinol? Because if we never use our liver stores then that's what causes hypervitaminosis A right? So on a low vitamin A diet you can have normal blood retinol because we are still using up what is in our liver. But she is saying we need to be eating it everyday to run pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. I'm just really confused about that.

@janelle525

I posted this on the RP forum, same questions

That is my main take away after watching yesterday. Is fresh retinol needed(maybe if person is in actual severe deficiency), when liver and serum are packed with retinol bound up. Can the body not use this bound retinol as fresh retinol, if this is required. I believe she states the bound retinol is packed up and not coming out though, due to enzymes, genes, mineral status...

It is too bad there isn't solid science showing whether VA is used bodily processes or not... we will all still be divided on whether it is a toxin or something required in small amounts to run metabolism/hormones, etc.

And retinoic acid in meat, that is a new one too
