All Roads Lead To Anhydroretinol: The Sneaky Vitamin A metabolite that causes Vitamin A Toxicity

I went back over the video and made notes:

We need some retinol. We make toxic anhydroretinol in the presence of alcohol which we produce in our stomach if we have candida infections. It's why alcoholics have no retinol stores because they are converting all their retinol into anhydroretinol which can't be stored but it can be sucked up by PKCdelta, and when we lack enough pools of PKCdelta we get mast cell degranulation and our bile becomes thick and unhealthy. 

When rats were toxic in anhydroretinol they rescued them with coq10 and vitamin E.  

Get RDA for minerals (copper, zinc, selenium, manganese, molybdenum (antioxidant system) 

250 mg vitamin C spread throughout the day 

Pantothenic acid (avoid b complex due to competition with biotin and lipoate) But biotin is needed  

B12 and folate (folinic acid or 5-methylfolate- avoid folic acid) careful folinic acid can cause gout 

Benfotiamine it helps you with pentose shunt pathway to recycle glutathione 

Epsom salt baths to help with PAPS because people are having trouble making sulfate from cysteine, PAPS help buffer alcohol 

Avoid sulfites 

Monitor for acidosis, you won't be able to get cysteine in the cells to make glutathione, you can take sodium or potassium bicarbonate away from meals 

Binders for absorbing the AR, but maybe take away from meat so we absorb the retinoic acid 

Betaine 250-500 mg to restore B6 and transsfulfuration pathways (make sure minerals have been good before starting it will restore GABA which restores antioxidant enzymes and you can feel very good! Just watch out for copper, zinc, selenium and molybdenum deficiencies) 

Treat candida and sulfur eating bacteria be careful of probiotics (antihistamines cause candida) 

Liposomal glutathione? 

Fresh animal sources of vitamin A as a buffer (eggs) you can go quite a while on a low vitamin A diet but then you will find that you can't tolerate more and more foods because you can't run pyruvate dehydrogenase complex so you struggle with metabolism and when you go outside your diet you can't use the nutrients, you also might be making beta 10 carotenol in the absence of retinol 

2 eggs per day or 500 mg phosphatidylcholine (lessens the burden on ARAT and DGAT- DGAT deficiency causes alopecia!) 

 

Things to avoid: 

Saccharomyces Boulardii (makes alcohol) 

Spore based bacillus subtilis (metabolizes sulfate and we need the sulfate) 

Annatto and safron (contain apocarotenal) 

Excess carotenoids if you know you have slow BCO1 

Alcohol 

"shelf stable" foods that have added vitamin A 

 

Possible things to avoid: 

Milk with added vitamin A 

Clear container milk or cheese 

Cod liver oil 

Any competitors for AOX (aldehyde oxidase, the only enzymes to make retinoic acid without requiring NAD. Mo dependent)  

Avoid high dose niacin, caffeine, B6 (up to 5 mg) 

 

Risks of a low vitamin A diet- Retinol is not a toxin 

What about a carnivore, low carotenoid ketogenic, or just a vitamin A free diet? 

These diets aren't devoid of vitamin A- meat contains retinoic acid  

Retinoic acid can't be converted to retinol 

Lack of retinol will leave PKCdelta without a bridge for electron transfer 

Metabolism will continue on without this 

BUT any oxidative stress with produce beta-apo-13-carotenone from retinoic acid which will pathogenically turn on PKCdelta  

Without retinol to buffer, oxidative stress will increase 

You won't feel good, you aren't getting better, you are not 'detoxing' you are 'retoxing'.

I've been quietly observing this forum for the past couple of years. It's been a while since I last shared an update here, but I intend to do so soon. However, I feel compelled to chime in now.

A significant portion of the commentary in the video relies on mechanistic studies, "Vitamin" science, and methylation science, which essentially constitute a large-scale psychological operation (psyop) orchestrated and sustained by pharmaceutical giants like Merck. The fact that Big Pharma often sponsors such research and promotes substances like methylfolate and "Vitamin" B6 serves as a clear indicator of their inherent toxicity. Folate, in all its forms (not limited to folic acid), is a potent neurotoxin. For example, the concept of a "folate trap" is unfounded; rather, B12 acts as an antidote to folate's toxicity. Years ago, I was prescribed Deplin, the pharmaceutical form of methylfolate, by my psychiatrist to address treatment-resistant depression. However, this decision led to unfortunate consequences.

Many individuals attempt to make folate effective, but it's futile. The majority of methylation research is a large-scale deception orchestrated by some of the most influential pharmaceutical entities in the game. It's true, methylation is a vital part of Vitamin A metabolism, but the foundational principles of methylation that people adhere to are fundamentally flawed and needlessly complex. 

The simplest solution to virtually all methylation challenges? Incorporate a pound of meat into your daily diet to ensure an ample supply of methionine and cysteine, along with supplementing with TMG, Creatine, Choline, and Niacin. Problem solved. No need to obsess about the endless intermediary methylation products or mourning a polymorphism that a huge swath of the population carries. The methylation aspect must be addressed as it directly intersects with several concepts covered in the YouTube video.

The ONLY health benefit eggs have going for them is their phospholipid and choline content, but that doesn't mean you should eat them. Phosphatidylcholine can enhance the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, including Vitamin A and essentially all lipid based molecules, by forming micelles in the gut. These micelles facilitate the transport of Vitamin A across the intestinal mucosa, improving its bioavailability (think similar to liposomal delivery). In my opinion, this could be the reason why eggs are among the most potentially allergenic foods for individuals. One egg doesn't have notably high levels of Vitamin A, much like how liposomal Vitamin C supplements often contain a lower dose of Vitamin C compared to standalone Ascorbic Acid supplements. 

Dr. Garrett Smith claims choline shoves Vitamin A into the liver (lol) because Phosphatidylcholine is involved in the formation of lipid droplets, where Vitamin A can be stored in the form of retinyl esters. These lipid droplets serve as reservoirs of Vitamin A, particularly in tissues like the liver. This mechanism is protective and beneficial as it provides ample raw material to mitigate toxicity while the body detoxifies. One only needs to research the destiny and life cycle of phospholipids throughout time to understand this does not delay detox. The body intentionally binds problematic molecules to fat and lipid-based substrates for storage. However, this doesn't imply that using such potent carrier molecules like Phosphatidylcholine as a delivery mechanism for additional Vitamin A, such as through eggs, is advisable. That being said, Choline is definitely beneficial, not only for aiding in Vitamin A detoxification but also for supporting methylation processes. For someone like me who has no excess fat, Choline was and is a game changer.

The notion of "fresh" retinol is absurd and can only be entertained due to a plethora of lamentable in vitro cell mechanistic studies that provide little to no practical application and are typically peddled by those with the pallor and robustness of a cadaver (think your typical Ivy League researcher). It is pure intellectual masturbation. The solution is typically easy, straightforward, and intuitive. 

Pay attention to your body and trust your intuition. Your setbacks in Vitamin A detox aren't caused by some rigmarole by-product molecule hogging a receptor, with the solution being to ingest more toxins to kick-start things or double down on adding more, more, more. The most powerful solutions aligned with cosmological design typically include subtraction, not addition. Much love!

@luke, I am not sure about this. I have become very aware of the dangers of supplementation. It just too often do not work like we think it should because it is out of natural concept. Also I dont agree that narrowing down on food to almost just 1 or a few things, not being able to tolerate other things, it is not health. I have been there and it did not end well.

I very much agree to follow ones intuition. But if you are stressed, there is no way you can feel it, because you are just a tight knot. You have no connection to your intuition. And adding supplements just mess it up further.

What I got from Meri´s video the most was.. what STRESS can do. How it can mess up the whole thing. It just confirmed what I have been intuitively feeling.

Ultimately it is stress that messes up the cell metabolism. Imho.

@bella, of course you can share, it is all open on internet and the more we share different perspectives the better it is the broader a view we become 🙂

Thank you kindly @inger. I very much want to do my small part to move all of this forward and help increase our understanding. This is possibly a crazy goal or hope for an ordinary woman like me but nonetheless it seems important. I see a lot of unnecessary fear and division being propagated within the low a ‘movement’ unfortunately and it saddens me a bit. I just think we need more people taking things seriously yet staying balanced and being open to considering the various perspectives on vA.

@luke, do you have a blog or social media account where you write on topics perhaps? I’d really like to read more on your perspective. I just recently  did a nutrigenomics panel because despite having a huge amount of success last year (to the point of achieving visible abs) I knew something was off. It was probably just long covid from work and stress but I did make a few changes based on the report that have really seemed to help. All of this is new to me though so I’m trying to increase my understanding.

I will say I am skeptical about the 'fresh retinol' thing. If someone is making anhydroretinol because they have candida and messed up pathways, then how will adding more retinol help? Won't that just turn into more anhydroretinol? Just because it's 'fresh' doesn't mean it won't add to the burden. My thinking is eggs aren't beneficial because of the 'fresh retinol', it is mainly the choline and b vitamins. I had the most health gains from taking betaine hcl, it didn't clear up my skin, but it did give me energy and ability to eat red meat which I was severely struggling with.

She does have a very good point we need to get trans-sulfuration working. I think it's a major problem. Chris Masterjohn has been talking about it recently and I think it's been really helpful. He says getting irritable and feeling of low blood sugar between meals is not due to actually being low in sugar it's actually due to sulfur problems. He said carbs shut down trans-sulfuration, so that's why we connect it to blood sugar! But if we measure our blood glucose it's normal. This has been a problem for me probably my whole life. I was self medicating with sugar my entire life. I think it's actually due to messed up sulfur metabolism. Which explains problems with meat, eggs, and sulfites. Sulfites are very toxic and if we are producing them every time we eat foods with thiols or cysteine we won't feel good! But I could feel great on a high carb diet. Anyway, so that's what I'm researching mainly at this point. I found a comment from someone on a sulfite allergy website saying once they lowered unnatural sources of sulfites they were able to tolerate eggs again, so I think I will try to avoid all added sulfites. Did you know corn starch has it? I was amazed how much is in our food supply. It could explain such huge benefits from carnivore and low vitamin A diets. You are eliminating SO MANY processed foods with sulfites. Bison, white or brown rice and black beans is an extremely low sulfite diet. And the sulfur may stay in the right form than being metabolized into thiols and sulfites or even hydrogen sulfide. But those who do produce sulfites and hydrogen sulfide from meat will likely experience worsening health. But that will obviously also happen from eggs too, so if eggs help rather than hinder it could be due to the choline providing methyl groups so the sulfur isn't converted. I think Chris Masterjohn has the answer for why Jenny Jones started having seizures. I don't think it was not having 'fresh' retinol, I think it was sulfur problems. Garrett Smith is biased against pork because it is 'unclean', and also due to his Dr Carey Reams RBTI days where apparently pork messed up people's chemistry... but that guy also suggested to eat margarine instead of butter soooo how much can we believe from him?
