Apple Cider Vinegar
Quote from thomas on April 18, 2019, 3:55 amI've been taking 2 tablespoons of ACV every single day since the first day of detox. im currently on month 5 with outstanding results.
It helps keep my acne away by reducing blood sugar spikes drastically after a meal (i have confirmed that my acne comes from blood sugar spikes). I want to be sure this isn't slowing my progression with depleting VA or anything...
I'd say it keeps my metabolism fast and helps me stay toned while off my exercise routine to heal. I recommend bragg's organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar. you can find it in literally any supermarket here in the US.

Quote from ggenereux on April 18, 2019, 5:40 amHi Thomas,
Thanks for sharing that information.
I have no idea about it slowing the depletion of VA. But, I think it’s not very likely to slow it down. And, it is probably quite beneficial in removing built-up calcium in tissues too, and especially in the blood vessels (age depending).
I am assuming you are testing your blood sugar levels, or, are you using some other indicator of monitoring blood sugar spikes?
Have you noticed any negative consequences? How about the strength of your teeth? Weight loss?
Thanks again.
Grant

Quote from thomas on April 18, 2019, 1:28 pm@ggenereux Thank you for the reply,
I don't have any tools to measure my blood sugar, but definitely felt changes in insulin levels after eating a high carb meal, or candy high in sugar.
I had severe cystic acne on my face and back and was very confused on why my acne didn't get better. I was eating completely healthy(no dairy either), all my meals were home made and cooked well, low glycemic foods, it did not make any sense
But I soon realized that my carb intake was way too high from the brown rice for weight training. As soon as i reduced the grains by 50%, went to unsweetened almond milk instead of sweetened, and started adding ACV into my diet to control my blood sugar, I saw an immediate difference.
I haven't noticed any negatives with taking it which is why I strongly recommend it to anyone. It's hard to tell if there were changes with my teeth since I wear braces, but it does a great job at helping me stay lean while i'm off my exercise routine and I personally think it would be a great thing to add into this VA deplete diet.

Quote from thomas on August 4, 2019, 5:51 amupdate on the ACV.
I stopped taking it a month or so ago and I feel much better without it
I'm still in my teenage years and get hormonal acne. ACV helped calm it down since it stabilizes blood sugar but i'd risk a few acne bumps for better health any day. Maybe the sugar has something to do with VA excretion?? Just a thought

Quote from lil chick on August 4, 2019, 9:52 amI would like to be able to weigh in with something more than just "intuition" but...
I've stopped taking acv EVERY day. I'm sometimes skipping it. Even if it means more flashing for me.
I still like taking it as part of a home-made re-hydration drink when I've been sweating.
I still think ACV is one of those helpful things to have in your arsenal (like chicken stock).
What could be wrong? Some people have trouble with Amines... (broken down proteins) and ferments might be a thing that can reach a limit with some people. A little bit is good, and might help your gut, but go over some sort of limit and then the ferments themselves become a problem.

Quote from romaine on October 11, 2019, 9:38 amAfter reading Grant's new blog post, I became more interested in ACV and am hoping for more feedback on it now if anyone else besides Thomas and lil chick, has any, and for people (like myself) who will be just trying starting now to report here in the future too about how it is working for them. I think there was another thread with people who reported on ACV but not sure what thread that was so if you wrote elsewhere about ACV, it would be great to post here too.
I'd also like to know if there is a best way to take it. Some sites say to take a bit diluted with water before meals and not to exceed a total of 2T a day. I plan on taking 1tsp at a time, 3 times a day for a total of 1T.

Quote from MaryAnn on October 11, 2019, 11:39 amI have homemade fermented celery root 'sauerkraut' with every meal. I have done this throughout my zero A diet of 18 months. I have had steady improvement without any detox setbacks. It seems like acidic fermented sauerkraut juice would be equivalent to apple cider vinegar. What do you think?

Quote from lil chick on October 11, 2019, 12:20 pmI think in some ways, yes! (kraut juice and cider vinegar have many parallels! they are both natural ferments and have benefits due to that)
But there may be special good things in one that aren't in the other -- such as boron in ACV or sulfur in kraut? pectin in ACV and vit C in kraut? Probably both are good! And possibly cucumber pickles are yet another category that I relish (LOL).
Apples come from trees which may make them sort of special (deep roots?) where veggies come from annual plants...(just thought here). Fruits "want" to be eaten (to disburse seeds) while veggies maybe do not. And there may be special things about the ACV "mother" (as someone mentioned above it may help you with carbs).
My fave way to take ACV is with a non-fermented juice, especially apple cider. I enjoy juice-with-ACV almost as much as a cocktail! I barely get plain ACV in water down the hatch at all.

I’d be interested to know this as well. I did Apple cider vinegar with the “mother” for two weeks and felt horrible. Eyes were very blurry and a lighting looking like stayed in my vision, very fatigued and dry eyes. Very similar symptoms to amoxicillin.
When was eating Sauerkraut , I didn’t Notice any negative effects.
