Is anyone here taking (or planning to take) c60?

Quote from Orion on November 2, 2019, 7:51 amDoesn't seem like it is considered safe for human consumption yet, not enough testing. Would be a nice magic bullet though, at this point I have tested to many things that have backfired over the last decade. I don't want any more set backs, so will stick with food and follow the anecdotal reports.

Quote from romaine on November 2, 2019, 10:12 amMy dad has been taking it for 1.5 years at least. I'll ask him about his experience but he must like it since he's been on it for awhile. I tried to research it a bit when he told me he was starting it but read conflicting things, and at the time was on Dr. Smith's protocol so I just stuck with that. Since getting so sick from the protocol of supplements I've been very leary of taking any more.

I like his originality and new inventions but this type of supplements as zeolites, megahydrate, c60 I wouldn'take - I did it in the past, and there was never any extra long-term effect and then questionable safety and contamination of these products.
Essential nutrients are always in the first place and the most of people have various imbalances and then maybe kidney, liver, adrenal support. Some binder can be useful as modified citrus pectin, charcoal.
If the body is clean without heavy metals, various toxins and VA... nobody needs this sort of supplements and if someone is toxic, only safe protocol should be used where long-term effect is proven in many people.
I wonder that vitamin D - essential nutrient for Dr. Smith is "very toxic" - but many people in the world have long-term benefits from it (yes, it can be overdosed and toxic as many other vitamins, minerals and must be in balance with VA) and he recommends c60 with very questionable safety.

Thanks, @orion ! I appreciate the links, and once I have enough time I’d like to read more about this stuff. But I have to agree with you—if it hasn’t had enough testing, it’s too risky! (At least for me. 😝 If someone is desperate, or even just curious, they might feel differently.)

@bludicka Yeah, the only “detox supplements” I’ve taken thus far have been activated charcoal and apples (just starting some apple pectin today, too), both of which I have found to be beneficial and fairly gentle. So no need to throw in a wildcard!
I stopped taking Vitamin D when I found out it was actually a hormone, but I have been wondering if we can even get enough sunlight to make an adequate amount ourselves where I live in the North... Especially without any in the diet. Not sure why Dr. Smith calls it “verry toxic.” I’ll have to see if he’s written about it somewhere.

Oh interesting about your Dad, @romaine ! Can’t blame you for erring on the side of caution when it comes to supplements. So often they do more harm than good, especially when you’re in such a sensitive state of health already. 🙁

You really should read the forum thread on that C60 study promoting tumors in mice. Turns out there's a lot more to it. For example the fact that the mice were genetically modified to have a weakened immune system and were injected with cancer cells. The big takeaway for me from that one is that the quality of the production process is key. Also shelf life of the mixture should be fairly limited due to the olive oil component. It might be worth asking Garrett what kinds of quality control there is on the production of whatever he's selling (obviously he licensed from a lab that makes it).
About vitamin D: Garrett talks about this in the last 15-30 minutes of his most recent pod cast interview:

Quote from bludicka on November 3, 2019, 6:49 amFragmented modified citrus pectin is low molecular weight and is more readily absorbed into the blood stream. (Pectasol or Swanson - chepear option), people with cancer use it.
Who needs C60? Only people into longevity and Dave Asprey - I'm not a fan of either. But these "longevity stuff" as PPQ, hormones are not tested in the long run, I wonder how he will look like in twenty years - he tries everything on himself.
I personally will be totally happy to get rid of vitamin A toxicity - and I hope it will be the last toxicity, after heavy metals, copper, oxalates.... The most of people have problems with "basic stuff", essential nutrients - dysregulation and toxicity and these should be addressed.
Dr. Smith calls vitamin D "disaster" and extremly toxic but his arguments didn't convince me, the truth is, many people today overdose with vitamin D and this causes an imbalance of other nutrients.
https://open.spotify.com/episode/5oeFqndUvcHODXXg0i2gqv
There are many reasons of vitamin D dysregulation: kidney disease, chronic infectious disease, HIV, cancer, obesity, smoking, reduced cholesterol in the food, anemia, fatty liver, drugs - block vitamin D (statins, antiseisure, prednisone, rifampin...) oral contraceptives, gut problems, magnesium deficiency, VA toxicity, removed gallbladder 100%, glyphosates, elderly people...
"Less D in tissues due to glyphosate (Roundup) increasing the CYP27A gene which destroys Vitamin D" - it sounds very similar to VA dysregulation???
https://vitamindwiki.com/Reasons+for+low+response+to+vitamin+D
https://vitamindwiki.com/Glyphosate
I wonder what Dr. Smith would advise these people - very low vitamin D with every possible symptom of vitamin D deficiency and the sun alone+cofactors would not be enough.

Quote from Ray Devlin on November 3, 2019, 11:55 amVit-D supplements do not help with the likes of osteoporosis. I have personal experience of this. In fact doctors will ply you with the stuff long after the recommended dosage period. For example, Alendronic can give you a hernia
in your stomachin your diaphragm which slowly allows the stomach to push up and through, coming to rest upside down. Natecal had zero effect on a person's bone density -- this individual grew smaller, the spine also hunching over which added to the radical loss of stature.
