Carbs vs Ketones, what energy substrate is preferred during VA detox?
Quote from Jiří on February 13, 2021, 4:59 am@rockarolla I am not talking about vit A. I asked for evidence that taking vit D (in moderate doses which is like no more than 50 000 iu a week) is harmful for people..

...there are more, but it seems you've already make up your mind regarding "vit" D and no amount of provided data will change it.

Yeah I did. Marshall protocol is when people are taking insane amounts of D3. So it is irrelevant. There is really a shit load of people who are taking 1-5ooo iu a day. If what are you saying to me is true. There should be some evidence that those people have negative effect.. To me it seems that you already chose what to believe. That hormone D is rat poison and shouldn't be be part of the diet even from natural things like mackerel at all even if their blood level is low. To me it doesn't make any sense. I avoided D3 supplements my whole life and I see zero benefits from that. So I am very careful to do something stupid again. Just because someone said something. Especially someone like Dr. Smith. I really can't take that guy seriously.. Something like this makes much more sense to me than the video of Dr. Smith you posted..

Quote from Jiří on February 13, 2021, 6:40 am@rockarolla last test was 78 nmol/l ref range 75-200. That was in october after summer of sun exposure. So I can imagine how low it was every year in March. I started with D3 for the first time 4000iu a day like 2 months ago. So far so good. Feel better and can actually do sports even during the winter. Last year I was dead in the winter. But I am sure it is also due to detoxing vit A. I think jn my case vit A was so damaging mainly because I was avoidong D3 supplements, because they are toxic right? So I had shit load of vit A in the diet and from supplements and zero vit D if the UVB was not available. I think if I was taking 2-4000iu a day like most people. I wouldn't be so effected by vit A...

I was dead for 2.5 years from the low D(bedbound CFS) but then apart from high narcolepsy and neuro symptoms like brain fog my energy levels became relatively good. I was recovering from CFS adding around 0.5 .. 1 on a 1..10 scale every year on a strict diet (mostly carnivore, very little antioxidants) before decided to be less strict and start adding garbage foods like pistachios(lutein astaxanthin), dairy("Vit" A), fruits(fructose, "Vit" C) - and for the last 2 years my progress essentially stalled(but thanks God I did not regress).
Now thanks to Grant and progress reports over here, I recognize that carotenoids and vit A from the food were probably an obstacles for the further progress(after relaxing the diet).
Recovery from chronic illness is almost always a multi year process and sometimes it takes a while to recognize the negative effects of certain interventions.
My another mistake was relying on too much saturated fats instead of pure glucose from the starches for too long time.

Quote from Orion on February 13, 2021, 9:05 am@rockarolla @jiri my issue with supplementing even small amounts of vitD like 1200IU is that is gives me really bad insomnia, horrible sleep. Sunbathing never does this, so I wait until summer and bathe everyday full body as long as I can. I do like the idea that vitD has a long half life. Jiri has mentioned eating small fish, but I hate fish... mushrooms are supposed to be really good for vitD, so I try to have some fresh ones weekly.
I think this summer when I am 2.5yrs VA free, the sun is going to do wonders, also feeling better now in the dead of winter than I have in many many years. low VA progress continues!

Good luck to all, may we all get better and better and understand from pooling our experience. Thank you again @ggenereux2014
I feel there is progress, real progress, even though it is agonizingly slow.
My mind is coming back.
Hugs and have a nice week end.

Quote from Jiří on February 13, 2021, 9:39 am@orion no issues with insomnia from vit D3. I have insomnia if my glycogen in the liver is low or if I do hard exercise. So cortisol stays up or sometimes when I do my home made near infra red sauna or even when I sweat during sunbathing. That can trigger detox for me and I often wake up in the middle of the night with night sweats. Which is a good thing in my mind. I see that as the body has ability to deal with something.. I wasn't sick with fever years and years.. Most people think that it's a good thing, but I know for sure that my immune system was not working at all and I know my body is full of all kinds of garbage that I need to deal with. I think it was vit A/D and copper/zinc related.. Vit A toxicity, vit D deficiency, low bioavailable copper and low zinc.. That is recipe for all kinds of diseases with cancer as end stage.. Hopefully I will reverse this process..

Quote from leap7 on February 13, 2021, 4:17 pmI think my mood has been better/more stable this winter after being on the detox for a year than it has in the past. I don't have the "heavy" depressed feeling I used to sometimes have in the winter. Cool.
