@jiri

I would like to determine the status of copper in my body, Do you. think CERULOPLASMIN test is enough or shal I do a serum copper level as well ?

Thanks !

I have had grey hair since vitamin A toxicity , and sometimes I get bouts of anxiety, so thought about checking this. test , btw I have never done copper test . This would be the first Time I am doing it . Will post the updates here soon

Blood test for copper, ceruloplsmin and zinc.  Copper toxicity starts with adrenal burnout. At First ceruloplasmin and copper in the blood is high and as adrenals and micronutrients like B vits, vit C, zinc, molybdenum etc. Are depleted ceruloplasmin drops and you start accumulate copper in the liver and start experiencing copper deficiency symptoms. So you can see from blood test in which stage you are. You need to retest after couple of months if you start taking copper antagonists to see high copper in the blood during copper dump. Copper dump usually hapens when you at first give the adrenalin some break and after that push the body with something like exercise, sauna etc.. Copper metabolism is Very problematic..

Cool I will go for the tests you mentioned , Will update you soon . Look for recommendations from you . Hopefully everything would be on point

@jiri

I got my Ceruloplasmin results came back and its around 20.10 mg/dl . Also did my Creactive protein .090

Do you think my Ceruloplasmin is too low ? . since past 2 years I took Zinc and eat enough red meat . How do you interpret my results ?

Thanks !

According to Ray Peat and some others, copper is the treatment for graying hair. There are multiple reports of people reversing their hair greying by increasing copper intake.

I don't know a lot about copper but I would be wary before accepting theories about it, pro or con. I think Garrett is completely wrong about calcium so I think maybe he is wrong about copper too.

@r-2 NOOOOOO BRO I said you need to test ceruloplasmin WITH COPPER and zinc at the same time so you can see how much of that copper is free(toxic)... Just by looking at ceruloplasmin we can't tell if it's good or bad..

@salt yes gray hair can be from copper deficiency, but also due to copper toxicity.. You need to realize that there is hardly any real copper deficiency.. Try to eat low copper diet. It's maybe even harder than low vit A diet.. Simply copper needs to be bound to ceruloplasmin so it can work. The problem is the more copper toxic you are the less ceruloplasmin you can make. So more copper toxicity= more copper deficiency symptoms because you have plenty of copper in the liver, but without ceruloplasmin you can't use it... THe only reason why someone can be deficient in copper is taking high doses of copper antagonists for years something like 10g of vit C, 50 or more mg of zinc,  400 or more mcg of molybdenum etc.. That can be dangerous for sure. But like I said for most people they will have copper deficiency symptoms due to low ceruloplasmin synthesis a not due to low copper.. We don't need more than 1-2mg of copper a day. It's crazy easy to get from the diet.. Another big issue with copper are hormones. Estrogen retains copper in the body. Today most people have too much estrogen due to high body fat, estrogens like chemicals etc.. Basically stress, estrogen depletes zinc and increase copper in the body.. I would never ever take copper again. If you think you have low copper make sure that you are not taking more than 15mg of zinc a day, around 500-1000mg of vit C a maybe 200mcg of molybdenum a day and you can eat more legumes or some cashews, buckwheat and you will have plenty of copper... People that take 5-10mg of copper a day and say they feel good it's because copper is strong stimulant. It will up your stress hormones and burnou out your adrenals. THan your ceruloplasmin crashes and you will end up with serious issues.. Like cancer, or some MS, alzheimer etc..

Sure I will do those tests as well , but what do you think about my ceruloplasmin level meanwhile , is it good to have it at borderline low ?

It's not ideal, but if the copper is low as well is not that bad.. I had in one blood test ceruloplasmin also around 20, but my copper was crazy high. So crazy amount of free copper floating around in the blood. Which is really bad. It creates huge oxidative damage... That should never happened if I had healthy adrenals and liver... Ceruloplasmin should go up with the copper..

is having low copper and low ceruloplasmin is desirable ? I heard copper is toxic as well ?
what's your ceruloplasmin and copper ?
