Dangers of CD (Chlorine Dioxide) / MMS
Quote from Jenny on May 28, 2022, 1:44 amIt does seem entirely against all his teachings of the last few years, which I have agreed with. I personally wouldn’t touch it with a bargepole. I’m all about sunshine, movement, de-stressing, sleep etc nowadays. Rising up Klinghardt’s pyramid. I don’t like the direction GS has gone. I support his earlier work on vA toxicity and cholestasis but this a no, not for me.

Quote from Chris on May 28, 2022, 1:29 pmI'm using the lactoferrin he promotes, I'm good with that. But yeah, the CD I'm not about to jump on that bandwagon.
The thing I struggle with is that sometimes healing does mean feeling worse for a while, I've used some energy medicine protocols (based on homeopathy) that have done that, the classical herx type reactions. But This seems dangerous to me. Meanwhile he tells people to stay away from things like iodine (lugol's solution), which he calls a poison. Odd.

Quote from Angela on May 30, 2022, 11:24 pmHello, @hillcountry!
Glad you found the posts helpful! And thanks for your encouraging words!
I completely get where you’re coming from when it comes to looking for clues and listening to your instincts. Heeding the “red flags” that pop up early on can often save people from a lot of ‘headache’ down the line and there are times I wish I had done that.
I just need to be clear for anyone reading that this is not anything personal against Smith. My concern is to warn people following his dangerous teachings on CD/MMS that they are harmful.
Canada has banned MMS stating, “Ingesting sodium chlorite in the concentrations contained in MMS products can cause poisoning, kidney failure, harm to red blood cells, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, among other harms.” It’s banned in other countries like Spain, Argentina, and Ireland. In the US the major suppliers of MMS (Marc Grenon/Genesis II, Daniel Smith) have been incarcerated.
Smith dismissed the bans, calling them an ‘obvious’ government conspiracy. While I believe that no institute of man is immune to corruption, collusion, and conspiracy, least of all government, chlorine dioxide is truly a harmful substance to ingest.
You made a good point about PubMed studies functioning more as “false authority” than supporting evidence. Before deleting my account, Smith posted a link to a 1982 study on ingesting disinfectants to support his theory. I plan to go over that study in an upcoming post and demonstrate that it doesn’t support his recommendation of ingesting CD/MMS.

Yes! Someone in his network also remembered Smith warning people not to take MMS a while back because he said it was bad for the thyroid.
And yes, it is odd for someone who takes a strong position against the ingestion of poisons to then instruct people to drink bleach! It’s also odd that he insults and censors people who say what he himself used to say.
For those that don’t know, ClO2 is an industrial-strength bleaching agent used to bleach paper and textiles. It cannot be compared to “lemon juice” which has a mild bleaching action.
@armin
Glad to hear you didn’t suffer too badly on the stuff! Some people react right away, others take longer. The potential for symptoms to increase with the duration of exposure is discussed in the 12-week study from 1982 which I plan to cover in an upcoming post.

Thanks for your support on this and for posting about the threats you received from Smith to censor you and delete your account. People need to know that it’s not an isolated event and that the motive is not to protect them from online abuse, it is “damage control” to censor people who disagree with him.
You hit on something regarding Smith “profiting monetarily from his activities”. Not that this is in any way wrong, but that it presents a “conflict of interests” (here’s a general definition, emphasis mine):
A conflict of interest occurs when an entity or individual becomes unreliable because of a clash between personal (or self-serving) interests and professional duties or responsibilities. Such a conflict occurs when a company or person has a vested interest—such as money, status, knowledge, relationships, or reputation—which puts into question whether their actions, judgment, and/or decision-making can be unbiased. When such a situation arises, the party is usually asked to remove themselves, and it is often legally required of them. Conflict of Interest, Investopedia
Here’s some articles on conflicts of interests relating to medical doctors and naturopaths.
At this point, Smith undeniably has a vested interest in maintaining his reputation despite promoting a harmful poison and banned substance. He also stands to lose money if his reputation is damaged.
So long as he keeps the modules promoting CD/MMS consumption in his Love Your Liver course which he monetarily profits from or recommends it to his paying clients in any way, he cannot clear this conflict of interests.

Quote from Janelle525 on June 2, 2022, 12:35 pmThis is really unfortunate! I mean he was literally calling lugol's a poison. I stopped using it in my waterpik due to him talking about it a lot. Now he is recommending MMS? I think that's the definition of experimenting on his clients which he has said is not okay when he was saying good scientists experiment on themselves not on their clients. What did he say about using it on himself? He usually does try something first before recommending it, but that's not always a good yardstick for whether something is good or not.
I just remembered I used to use Closys as part of my dental routine and that's stabilized chlorine dioxide, honestly I don't think it had much in it, it had a reminiscent flavor of bleach but mostly just tasted like water. But I made sure to never swallow that stuff. And I would never use it internally. What is the goal of using it?

@janelle525 I'm curious what your reaction was to Lugol's if you were taking it. I had been taking it and didn't seem to have any problems, but stopped also because of his take on it.

I'm not sure honestly. My thyroid health was plummeting though so I thought maybe it would be best not to have that variable lingering in the background. It's good to have on hand in case of emergencies, but probably not good to use everyday.

Dr. Brownstein sounds like he's been consistently supplementing his patients with some form of iodine (not sure if it's pure potassium iodide or Lugol's) and has only had positive things to say about it. I trust Brownstein infinitely more than Smith.
I tried one drop of 2% Lugol's for a little while and didn't notice any dramatic changes either way. I'll probably go back to experimenting with it after I stop taking other supplements, although pure potassium iodide seems like a safer option than Lugol's.

Quote from lil chick on June 4, 2022, 6:20 pmI was looking at some of my teeth that are still yellow in the back and thinking, hey, isn't it interesting that things that are bleaching agents like hydrogen peroxide or now this bleach thing MMS are considered useful (by some) in the detoxing of something that begins as a PIGMENT. Sunshine too.
It's interesting that what we call vitamin A, the "animal form" isn't colored anymore. Goat butter, which has most of its carotenes converted to "vitamin A" is white. Cow butter's carotenes aren't fully converted, and it is yellow. I'm betting this is what so-called "vitamin A" is about. The conversion is a way to manage pigments in which the pigment-ness of it is controlled. So that it can't leak into things and goof them up.
edited to add:
When I brought my little dumpster kitty to the vet he told me he was adult, because he had all of his teeth, but that he was very young because his teeth were very white...
