The question of the fats that the long-lived eat is interesting. They don't seem to really eat seed oils. However, the neural network notes that they do eat nuts. However, Buettner does not specify how many nuts the long-lived eat, except for the Adventists (2%). This is probably a negligible amount. However, it is clear that the Nikoi people eat avocados, while the Icaria and Sardinia people eat olive oil. The Okinawa and Sardinia people eat fatty pork. In Nicoa and Sardinia, they also used to eat a lot of dairy products. I think we can conclude that long-lived people really don't eat a lot of PUFA. However, I don't think there is a PUFA deficiency there.

Can you provide a link to a study that says that long-lived people eat 60% animal protein? I'm also curious why Dan Buettner hasn't written anything about the diet of long-lived people in the Caucasus, even though everyone in Russia knows that there are many long-lived people there. Does their diet fit into the climate propaganda?

Lil-chick, it's interesting that Price's diet didn't help you. I've studied what he writes and says a bit, and I find his ideas plausible and logical.

It is important to note that the data in the charts is based on the entire blue zone, not just the long-lived individuals. Many people in the blue zone likely eat at McDonald's or similar, which may skew the statistics. Therefore, it is advisable to take Dan Buettner's word for it. Additionally, the idea that long-lived individuals follow a low-protein diet contradicts official medical recommendations regarding protein intake (Would scientists shoot themselves in the foot?).

Yes, it's a great book.   But still no one gets everything right.

I was a part of the WAPF (Weston A Price foundation) for a long time, starting about age 40.    They have a certain take on his work.    Even Price said you should only ever do a tiny amount of cod liver oil (CLO).

The foundation eventually kind of blew up over CLO, especially fermented CLO.  I really regret ever taking CLO or recommending others take that.

Several of the big wigs of the foundation died very young, including Dr Ron and Ramiel Nagel.   Dr Ron literally blamed the destruction of his heart on CLO, but he thought it was due to the rancidity, it never occurred to him to blame the vitamin A.    Matt Stone eventually got vitamin A overloaded and he was big at the WAPF for a time.    He left the internet (in frustration?) after a while, but has returned to video blogging.

My neighbor still likes the WAPF diet, and she eats lots of pork (her family farms it).   It could also be that she didn't startup already VA toxic when she arrived there.  Unlike me, she has very few vices, she doesn't drink or do caffeine.    She gets tons of sun and exercise.

It may be very important, as a WAPF'er not to get too low in your b-vitamins.

No one gets everything right, and some of the things the WAPF have done are really great, like connecting people to farmers and questioning the risks of vax.

Hi @daniil

Have you had any success with the varicose veins point you mentioned a few years back?

I currently have a varicose vein in the male place - it is torture. I was hoping it would have gotten better in the past couple of years (it was diagnosed very early stage 2 years ago and wasn't bothering me), but this past week has been causing extreme discomfort.

I was reading about horse chestnut seed as a potential palliative, but I don't know if it is toxic to the liver.

Have you tried vitamin K?  topical and oral?

@joe2 - thanks! I actually have a vK complex with K1, K2 mk4, K2 mk7, that I haven't used in many, many months. I'll get it out the cupboard again.

Would you recommend a particular topical? I'm not sure about the safety of putting anything in that area - especially with my history of dysfunction.

Any thoughts on the horse chestnut?

Hi Andrew. No improvement, but also no deterioration, was observed.

I would also like to write about the diet of the long-lived. In general, judging by the diagrams, on Icaria (11%) and the Adventists (16%) eat little animal protein by weight. The book also has a table of nutrition for the inhabitants of Okinawa in 1949, under which, as I understand, the traditional diet is meant, and there is very little animal food (2%). I have found data on how much people eat around the world in grams of different food and this is exclusive data! (it was very difficult to find). It's important to note that weight statistics are skewed towards vegetables, fruits, and milk (because milk is a liquid, and fruits and vegetables weigh a lot but provide few calories). It turns out that in the world, animal protein accounts for around 25% of the total weight of food consumed, while in the United States, it accounts for 40%. As a result, three out of five longevity zones consume relatively low amounts of animal protein. Additionally, I was surprised to learn that the Nikoya zone consumed a significant amount of sugar (11% of the weight of their diet).

In general, there are correlations between what the neural network says and what Dan Buettner writes, but they are not entirely clear. At least, it is possible to eat sugar and drink a lot of milk and still live to be 100 years old.

No clue on horsechestnut.  Might be worth getting on

to ask Hope and a few others more familiar with it.  Sunlight and vitamin K are invaluable in helping calcium do its chores.  Chores include binding and getting toxins out as well as healing.  Have used vK oil on hemorrhoids to good effect.  Also have used zinc oxide / shea butter cream.  Feels like zinc cream is better on wounds closer to surface and vK is better for deeper stuff.  vK on gums was a no for me.

Interestingly, I had a dream yesterday about venomous snakes crawling out of car exhaust pipes.

A hint from God about why I'm sick?
