Detox symptoms
Quote from Orion on April 11, 2019, 6:00 amQuote from YH on April 10, 2019, 1:20 pm... does it last longer than a few days? Do the symptoms come and go?
Symptoms seem to persist for now. I will just continue forward until Dec 1st, which will be over 1 year low VA, with 8 months very close to zero VA intake. I think for now judging week to week is to variable for me, I need a year to decide whether this is working outright. Biggest goal is to normalize skin, which has greatly improved, but there is still room for more improvement 🙂
Would be nice if there was a VA antidote to take, otherwise seems that time is the biggest factor for some.

Quote from ggenereux on April 11, 2019, 6:15 amWhat source are you getting the vitamin E from?
Just for people who might not know it, some of the packaged vitamin E you buy in capsules is sourced from red palm oil. Although it’s a good source of vitamin E, red palm oil also has a very high beta-carotene / vitamin A content.
Therefore, people need to be very careful with a supplement’s vitamin E source. Getting vitamin E from Brazil nuts or almonds would be a lot safer than bottled capsules.

Yep good info, I use the Now brand recommended by Garrett, from non carotenoid sources.
I do eat some almonds couple times a week as well.

Quote from who_am_i on April 15, 2019, 2:17 amI am 4.5 months in and my detox symptoms are still persistent.
The first 3 months I would get flu like symptoms (headaches, sore throat, coughing, sinus infections, etc.) which would go on for a week or a few days. In the last few weeks this hasn't reoccurred though, so that my current symptoms are mainly:
- Diarrhea from time to time
- Orangish stool colour (which I attribute to the carotenoids being dumped)
- Insomnia and anxiety if I drink too much alcohol (I never in my whole life suffered from insomnia, so I assume it's the VA being released into the blood)
- Low body temperature and cold sensitivity on certain days
- Flare up of skin issues
I am thinking about maybe doing a grape (juice) fast for a week as well as doing liver flushes on a regular basis in order to open up my channels of elimination and getting the lymphatic system to move, in the hope that this will speed up the detoxification process.

Quote from Orion on April 15, 2019, 5:30 amFinding that if I take small amounts of extra B vitamins my symptoms are lessened.
Not sure if this is slowing the VA release or speeding it up, but feel better.
10mg: B6
50mg: B3, B5
10mcg: Biotin, B12
100mcg: Folate
200mg: B1, B2I do think that B1 and B2 are important in VA metabolism and excretion. Maybe my digestion is not robust enough to pull Bs out of the beef I eat daily.
One main symptom is greasy flaky skin, especially around cartilage areas.
I have used B vitamins extensively in the past without being on low VA, and they never gave results like them combined with low VA.

Quote from who_am_i on April 17, 2019, 11:10 pmThe more protein I eat, the more detox symptoms I seem to get and the faster calluses on hands and feet seem to vanish. I have been eating consistently around 300 gr of lean red meat for the last 3 weeks, besides the proteins I get from my oats and pasta. I have experienced loose bowels during this time, it seems as if the RPB are binding massive amounts of toxic material which the body tries to get rid of afap.
I think a high carb, medium to high protein and very low fat diet is a very effective way to speed up detoxification, at least that is the case for me

Quote from lil chick on November 18, 2019, 5:07 pmPlease try to determine if your detox cycles happen during times when you LOOSE WEIGHT. Even just a small amount.
It would make so much sense! (burn a fat cell, get a dose of stored VA!)

Quote from lil chick on November 19, 2019, 9:43 amI wonder if weight loss is actually PART of detox. Inseparable from it.
The body has perhaps been waiting a long time to "unpack" this extra weight, handle the VA, and get on with a lighter life!
Then it comes down to making sure the VA gets OUT.
