Farnesoid X receptor and bile acids regulate vitamin A storage

Lactoferrin is a FXR inhibitor. I’ve been using grass fed whey protein recently which contains lactoferrin and immunoglobulins it fixes biles issues completely for me. Dark brown stools a few times a day. The easily available amino acids also help a lot with bile acid synthesis much more than meat.

TUDCA I used for my gallbladder issues before Vit A toxicity it was helpful but never fixed anything. Then when I tried it after I had developed bad Vit A toxicity the TUDCA caused bad confusion for me. And the confusion also happened when I ate carrots or rutagaba too.

Are you not worried about the vitamin A conent in the whey??

Interesting. So, would UDCA or TUDCA be a useful tool or would it cause the body to "store more poisons" as a certain doctor suggests?

Looks like FXR activation from bile acids may be dangerous.

It looks like the VDR and FXR interact and Vitamin D 1,25 D shuts down FXR downstream effects.

From the study above, it said that FXR-null mice had much lower vitamin A stored in the liver. Wouldn't this be the opposite of an agonized receptor? Or am I missing something?

This suggests that FXR antagonists could help liver health.

what food inhibits fxr?

I stopped worrying about Vit A intake in January, the only Vit A foods that I barely eat are carrots and sweet potatoes, but other than that my diet has plenty of Vitamin A 😀

@alexm Wait, that's a pretty herretical statement, what flipped the switch for you? What made you tolerate VA foods again? If I remember correctly, coffee enemas helped, methylene blue played a role. But it's better if you present the case yourself, so please, enlighten me!

@christian Yes purging my gallbladder and liver everyday with coffee enemas from September to Feb was the main thing in combination with Pectasol , minerals, Immunoglobulin supplements.

My diet is similar to people like Andrew on the Vit A toxicity group, I’m doing like moderate Vit A so the Vit A foods I’m eating are eggs, grapefruit, red cabbage, ice cream, orange juice, yogurt, cheese, whey protein, occasionally I will have something that has carrots in.  I think their diet approach is the best way. But I think it only comes a stage when you are less toxic or have fixed some deficiencies.

But then doing a low PUFA diet I think has helped as well, taking b3, b1, b complex, glycine, minerals  etc helped too. I take PC and Pectasol sometimes also. Going to Costa Rica for a month and  half also helped alot as well, my bile was emptying out like crazy over there.

If you have mold in your home that you’re constantly being exposed to, don’t expect to tolerate Vit A. Likewise if you have some washing detergent which is high in aldehydes or if you have mold stuck in your washing machine or dryer or clothes.

Use a natural or fragrance free soap and wash every part of your body, if your skin has absorbed some chemical from something it will shut off your Vit A metabolism. You also excrete heavy metals through your skin.

If you’re eating a lot of bread I would stop that, I think a lot of bread and grains can cause issues with Vit A metabolism and other grains might be an issue too. Likewise with rice and fish I don’t think they’re helpful mercury and arsenic.

If your face is pale then your iron metabolism is likely shut off so you will have issues with Vit A. So the iron issues are likely to do with something going wrong with your copper bioavailability or pathogens.

Personally I cant tolerate even small amounts of whey but hey if it works for you I dont want to ruin your day. I must say though that I highly doubt you are detoxing much vitamin A on a diet like that and both sweet potatoes and carrots are so high carotenoid that I wouldnt even think of your diet as specially low vitamin A. You must excuse me if Im wrong as I haven seen your actual numbers and I just assume you are not talking about maximum a spoon of those veggies a day 🙂

@henrik I’m not concerned about detoxing Vit A anymore. Whey protein has lactoferrin which is a FXR inhibitor so that would help bile production and removal of Vitamin A and it contains all the amino acids needed for bile acid synthesis.

If you read my post that you quoted properly I said I barely eat carrots and sweet potatoes so that means only occasionally.

well it depends I guess on ones definition on low. If you are not detoxing A of course its different. Im sort of always assuming that people here are detoxing- does tht mean you are well? or have you reached the conclusion that it wasnt your initial problem after all?
