Cod Liver Oil
Quote from lil chick on July 8, 2019, 9:02 amPerhaps some already know, but others have no idea... the WAPF world was split, not too long ago, on the controversy over "fermented" cod liver oil. Some think it is healthful, some think it is quite the opposite--and the difference has cost people friends. Some think it isn't even what it is purported to be. I'm sure many people are glad the hub-bub of this argument has settled! But really, this argument needs answers. Perhaps some answers will be found here...in the experiments being done by A-toxic people. FWIW, an article and long comment thread that can get you up to speed on the two (or three) sides to the argument: https://www.davidgumpert.com/those-ticking-time-bombs-going-off-are-wapf-people-dying-too-young Sometimes I wonder, especially when no other companies are lining up to make a similar product, what the heck government inspectors think of vats of rotting cod livers? I sort of think if I went down to the farmer's market with a vat of rotting cod livers and tried to sell them (or even give them away) it would not be allowed. How can raw milk be illegal some places, and yet this product is legal? Of course, these are thoughts that were too slow in coming to me. I have taken this product!

Quote from lil chick on July 8, 2019, 9:33 amGreen Pastures also sells "fermented" skate oil and butter oil. (The butter oil is (I think) also subject to "fermentation").
During this controversy a lot of people's minds went right to rancidity of the pufa's.
But what happens when you "ferment" vitamin A ?
Let's say pork has under-appreciated amounts of A. Is bacon even worse than pork because of the "curing"?

Quote from lil chick on July 8, 2019, 9:37 amI was talking to a friend from a country whose food traditions include ghee. He said that the milk was boiled, the cream was skimmed, allowed to sour, then the ghee was made. Ghee making is kind of rough actually you boil that butter pretty hard to clarify it. Those fats go through a lot. Still, it is considered a healthful food...in those countries. (I find ghee unappealing personally)

Quote from bludicka on July 8, 2019, 9:59 amI was taking fermented cod liver oil and Rosita cod liver oil... and these unrefined oils are richer in vitamin A than molecularly distilled. Cancer patients have usually very low vitamin D and this oil is a disaster for them, it was for me with low vitamin D - I was almost suicidal, now I know that my symptoms of vitamin A toxicity were even worse with vitamin D deficiency.
Dr. Brian Peskin write a lot about fish oil, for him it's a poison:

Quote from bludicka on July 8, 2019, 10:03 amGhee was made in countries like India for practical reasons because they didn't have a refrigerator, but I don't understand why it is considered healthy.

Quote from bludicka on July 8, 2019, 2:50 pmAnd in Ayurveda is used copper vessel for making "copper water" and this form of copper is very toxic for the body and copper bracelets for reducing joint inflammation and easing pain... they can help shorterm but can be toxic longterm.
"Drinking water that was left in a copper vessel/pot can kill bacteria effectively, especially when it comes to E.coli and S.aureus which are two types of bacteria found in today’s environment and both cause dysentery, diarrhea, and jaundice." - water did not spoil and in the past prevented the spread of diseases.

Quote from Ronnie on July 8, 2019, 3:11 pmThat practise makes sense in that context
I have used those vessels trying to cure my issue before have no positive or negatives to report
Ghee I only use in moderation like maybe 1 tiny spoon every other day and I stopped all those other oils peskin recommended they didn't help
Why exactly is copper bad if you are getting adequate zinc? I don't really get it.
To be honest I am skeptical of vitamin A detox working by itself. I had the hand eczema that Grant had and it usually went away by itself in a month. Maybe his was more severe but I am surprised he saw results so quickly.

Quote from lil chick on July 8, 2019, 3:31 pmAbout a year or so before the WAPF fallout on FCLO I really did finally get what I call "The Ick" on FCLO.
Not good tasting, but who would expect to like CLO? At this point I wouldn't use any CLO, fermented or otherwise, but I can see how fermented might be WORSE.
I didn't bring up Ghee here to blast Ghee in any way, but more to show that some trad oils do go through some "fermenting" and "intensive processing" and they contain A. Nordics etc are known for eating "high fish". Surstromming. It supposedly smells so bad that it must be eaten outside and illegal to eat on planes.
I think that it is a little bit interesting that I don't like ghee though, since I'm interested in food intuition. However, ghee could be an acquired taste. It could be that the genes of people who have used ghee for a thousand years are fine with it because any genes that weren't fine with it are long pruned from the family tree.

Quote from bludicka on July 8, 2019, 3:58 pmDr. Peskin helped me a lot... I did with my friend Budwig diet, flaxseed oil+sheep milk yogurt, first problem with flaxseed oil was, is super high in phytoestrogens and after one week I had symptoms of estrogen dominance (I reduced the dose and it helped, I really don't understand how someone can take the big amounts of the oil) and the second, I overdosed with omega-3 and I had deficit of omega-6, my diet is very low in omega-6. After I realized I had a bad ratio omega 3 and omega 6 and I added omega-6, my skin was practically in a few days better, the problem was I was VA toxic too - I didn't know it and the skin was still super dry but omega-6 helped anyway. I replaced flaxseed oil with the hempseed oil - I am still doing this Budwig mix for my friend, this omega-3 and phytoestrogens overdose is certainly not healthy and I don't understand how this Budwig mix can be healthy for cancer patients.
Inorganic copper vs. organic copper from foods:
" Organic copper is food copper. It is tightly bound to food proteins, is metabolized by the liver, and is safe. Inorganic copper is a simple salt of copper, the kind put in nutritional supplements or leached into drinking water. Some of this inorganic copper bypasses the liver and adds directly to the "free copper" pool of the blood, and is unsafe. "
If someone has a copper deficit, it should be supplemented with food - organic copper. This ist the same if someone says, cooking in cast iron cookware is good for iron deficiency... but this form of iron is toxic, best iron is from beef meat.
"I am skeptical of vitamin A detox working by itself" - I think it's possible for some people, for Grant it was the only problem - chronic vitamin A toxicity, but otherwise he is healthy and he has results. For me personally is the progress slower and some people feel really very good from the beginning of the diet or after one month - my only explanation is that they probably weren't so toxic and have no other health problems, with liver, with other toxins...
