Finally.. Not seb derm but Psoriasis ! My Journey

Page 1 of 3Next

Hi all,

I have been trying to get rid of 2 things for many years now : It all started 6 years ago with Psoriasis (which I thought was seb derm on my last post here) and 24/7 upper right quadrant tenderness that started 2years ago after a ketogenic diet trial and never went away.

So as new spot appeared (on the nails and the genitals... yay!) I now know it's psoriasis and not seb derm (@tim-2 we exchanged about this - it's probably why the h2o2 didn't do anything)

I've been doing the low A for 1 year and stopped as it didn't help at all. I figured out that too much starch (rice and beans, but also if only rice) was worsening the psoriasis.

I'm currently giving a shot a a low fodmap diet + epithelial support + probably UDCA bile acids, with very good oral/nasal hygiene (using clo2 diluted - I have small gingivitis with inflammed gums pocket between teeths) as I have some streptococcus antibodies and it has been shown that some psoriasis patient react badly to that specific strep strain (Dr Ely's research)

I have done a bile acids panel which showed low primary BAs and high secondary BAs. So their is a lot of deconjugation by an agressive flora (oral biome can participate to this, with the strep, staph, P.gingivalis etc..) that is why I'm lowering fermentative substrate and everything that can be used by this flora (maybe that is why too much resistant starch worsen it as well? Not sure)

I will update this post as I keep going on that journey, and any help/thoughts on the matter would be welcome ! Thanks.

Edit - Current diet is :

  • Breakfast : 300g kiwi, 5x eggs with 30g bacon, sauekraut homemade

  • Lunch : 300g clementine, 200g 15%beef, some kind of vegetable (zucchinni, cucumber, chinese cabbage, belgian endives, lettuce..) with raw olive oil

  • Snack : 3x eggs and 1.5 banana (pancake)
  • Diner : Basmati rice or potatoes, with beef or fish, and the same vegetable I had for lunch

I know there is too much pro carotene (and eggs) for most people here, but with the low fodmap approach I have no choice for enough carbs/kcal. I could ditch the clementine and eat only kiwis, but since I did not noticed anything for the 1year low A I figured.. why not. And I can't eat more than 1x starch meal, otherwise the pso will worsen.

Hi Mat,

What is your age if you don’t mind me asking?

Hi Tommy,

27 ! Psoriasis started very very mild (maybe seb derm actually at the time) when I was 13 with dandruff on scalp/eyebrows. Then it went away (this, or I did not noticed it at the time)

It came back after a 1year NZ trip, 6 years ago. It started around the nose/eyebrows, I started to be obsessive about curing it. From there, It slowly started to spread up to that day.

I believe we have talked on here before. I had sebderm as well.

Have you tried avoiding histamine liberators?

If yes, how was the result? What was your exact diet like, when you avoided histamine liberators?

My skin would be absolutely horrible on your current diet.

@max-3 Yeah we have ! I have tried the low histamine liberators, but couldn't handle most of the food. I seem to have issues with specific fodmaps (apples are horrible and give me egg smelly gas for instance)

I was basically eating peach, nectarines, apple, beef and honey

My skin isnt great at the moment either, but I'm not sure what else I can do.

@mat Any updates Mat and any success with diet or supplements? I seem to get psoriasis from Starch, Sugar and high histamine foods. Antihistamine help but no permanent solution yet.

@andyrao316 Hey, no not at all.

Where do you get your pso ? For me, it's scalp/face/ears/beard and recently genitals as well as nails.

Nothing that I ever try made a difference, except lowering the starch/sugar/carbs intake as well. Certain high histamine food might also affect me yes.

That is one high-VA diet. Several people on this forum touting eggs these days. Hope nobody with excess VA in their body follow these diets.

Eggs are not high Vitamin A. I took 1-2 eggs every day throughout the detox and I've been very successful in avoiding detox setback and reactions to foods. I increased to 3-4 eggs a day and decades long problems resolved. Replenishing choline and phospholipids is what eggs help with. The choline in eggs is much more helpful than any detriment of small amount of vitamin A. Eggs reduce the leakiness in the process which is where most of the problems are coming from. Both things are needed reduce high carotenoid and reduce high vitamin A but also improve methylation fcators like choline and betaine.

@andrew-b Ok, I'm open to being convinced here, so could you answer me these questions, please, so I might rid myself of this misconception I might have?

  • are not egg yolks packed with carotenoids, since they are so yellow?
  • have you ever had your serum retinol levels measured, and how eating so much egg has affected your levels?
  • how do you know that eating 4 eggs a day did not just mitigate your detox symptoms because you eat more VA, because your body focuses more on storing VA than dumping it? I thought 4 eggs was around 30% of RDA of VA. To me, that is a lot.

I'm not doubting that eggs are packed with important nutrients, but for people who would want to get rid of excess VA as fast as possible, I don't see how eating 30% of the RDA could be beneficial!
