Heavy Metal Toxicity: Do Bentonite Clay / Diatomaceous Earth / Zeolite heal or harm?

It seems that everybody (fortunately for them) here has a reasonable gutfunction,no problem with binders, and/or is able to tolerate small amounts of VA/beta carotene... ingredients with VA in personal hygiene products such as toothpaste. While I probably have had a lower A diet then most, from what I read here, never supplemented or used beauty products with it.

I keep searching if I can find anything on certain gutbugs/fungi/mold  that feeds/thrives on VA. So far, I can only find articles stating the opposite how VA is supposed to be antifungal🤔

The only thing that does pop up, is certain fungi&candida and bacteria such as Klebsiella being able to produce ethanol/acetaldehyde as byproducts. I'm sure ethanol/acetaldehyde is part of the problem, but I can't imagine betacarotene/VA immediately being turned into alcohol. I suppose that mechanism requires some time, unless there's something eating or immediately turning the VA into a harmful substance and/or thriving on it....but like I said,I haven't been able to find something on that. (lol, wouldn't that be something if I by accident made a medical discovery previously unheard of🤣)

I have spent years trying to fix my constipation and gut problems.  Many people are fortunate to not have problems but I think I read a good third of the population has problems.

I am had a lot of success with a modified Karen Hurd bean protocol.  And recently I have taken high doses of MSM as this doctor recommends for SIBO.  She has also written a book that explains more of her reasoning and why digestive enzymes help, too.  I did not purchase her product but used plain MSM.  It has made a big difference in the bloating and gas caused by some gut bacteria and yeast.  She says that eventually you will be able to eat anything.  That hasn't happened for me yet but I am a lot better off.  I still avoid many foods but I also don't have as much constipation or digestive problems.

here is the link to Dr. Kathleen Janel's interview by the SIBO doctor.

I've been using food grade bentonite clay powder mixed with water as toothpaste for months, no apparent problems. I try not to eat it. It is everything free and so damn cheap. I hope I don't have poisoning from it but it seems fine so far. In the end the biggest thing I noticed is staying consistent. Missing brushing and flossing days will lead to hard calculus forming.

Yes I bought the earth paste as well. I returned it, it only with came with one essential oil or another. Mine was mint. 10 dollars for two ounces.

As for the clay I used, it's called fossil power. Sodium bentonite. There are calcium bentonite options available. All real cheap on Amazon, relative to earth paste. It mixes with water and looks just like earth paste.

I don't know what caused your cavities, sorry to hear. I only had a couple when I was younger and eating vitamin a a lot. Haven't had any in years. Went years without brushing and developed calculus (hard plaque). Got it abraded off and the teeth underneath were fine. Now I brush with bentonite, floss with a pick, and use a water pik once per evening.

I was very aggressive with my detox by going for plasma draws twice a week, as I detailed in another thread. Maybe that helped? But genetics can play a part. My brother has had faulty enamel since he was a kid, lots of problems. I can only suggest a super clean diet and clean water. The gold standard is still carnivore clean (beef steak, salt, water).

@joseph-5 @itsme Carnivore is horribly unbalanced diet and also makes you easily iron toxic if you don't bleed regularly..

"Balanced" means absolutely fuck all. I've run carnivore for weeks at a time and felt great. Others are on it for years with no issues. The most common report from carnivore dieters is the complete disappearing of all medical issues.

That is my anecdotal experience from carnitarians I know and perusing carnivore forums. If you look up carnivore "influencers" you might find otherwise, but they tend to eat for video appeal and bastardize the definition of "carnivore".

Are these healthy carnivores...    1.  avoiding liver etc  2.  bleeding regularly ?

Are they 3.   one-meal-a-day-ers?

Do they get lots of 4. exercise and perhaps into muscle building and fitness.

I also wonder if they would need some 5. ocean meats for iodine.

Just wondering if there are some special rules for healthy carnivorousness.

I can totally see how humans can probably fall back to carnivorousness to survive, but I don't know if it is actually "natural" to stay that way all the time.  It seems to me that humans would have eaten anything edible that they happened upon.   Omnivorousness is a super power.

The vast majority of carnivores that I know or have corresponded with are

  1. Steak only
  2. Two meals a day
  3. Average activity level

The knowledge of retinol toxicity is either non-existent in that community or not being discussed much (perhaps suppressed?).  A lot of the knowledge we have is pushed by a doctor named Sean Baker, he was on the Joe Rogan  podcast. He never brought up vitamin a in anything I saw.

The most prominent advocate for the purist diet is Jordan Peterson, he advocates BSL, Beef, Salt, Liquid (Water). I've never seen him draw the line between beef steak and beef liver, but I've never seen him eat liver or advocate for it. You're right in that a fine line exists where you could end up loading vitamin a while thinking you're a "clean carnivore".

But to keep it to the discussion of "what about eating only beef steak on a low vitamin a diet", yes I am putting forward that it is possible and maybe the best approach. I think that if you do that, a lot of the benefits that Grant describes, namely energy gain, mood improvement, and fat loss, would come sooner.

I have run pure carnivore for four weeks, six weeks, always with lots of benefits. I have never had a downside except a hankering for some carbs. I don't believe in ocean fish for iodine anymore than I believe in egg yolks for choline. I have never had blood issues, on low retinol, carnivore, keto, or any other diet. I only donated plasma to push retinol out.

I recently started cutting carbs down in my diet, and am down to maybe a quarter cup per day, alongside a bunch of grass fed beef. It accelerated my fat loss. If I had the tenacity to go zero carb I would probably lose another ten pounds of fat quickly. I am a bit lazy and keep some carbs in for comfort. But I might run pure carnivore again soon as I prepare for a job that would require physicality and it would benefit me to be lean.

I would update here if I did that. I believe I already updated the diet post I have with the low carb stuff.
