How to Feed Ones Growing Children?? The Conundrum

Hi All,

I so appreciate hearing about others' experiences on this forum, because it is so rare in this world to find people with true curiosity, and in order to try this crazy approach you gotta have it. 🙂 I aspire to be curious...and mostly these days I am just so tired! But I do feel the need to mix up my family's diet a little, and would love some input.

We've been eating low A since July 2019, and have had some HUGE gains for certain family members for sure. Others haven't felt much difference at all. I have posted sporadically on our progress here: https://ggenereux.blog/discussion/topic/our-family-behavioral-outburts-acne-urinary-problems-hormones-oh-my/

These days, I feel like we're definitely doing a lot better than we were, but progress has stalled. There are some symptoms that won't go away, and kids have been wanting random other foods (or disliking foods that until recently they did like). I'd like more variety, because I am either bored of beef and rice or it's just not...Right. Here's what we eat (almost exclusively organic, and most meat is local), and I'd love to hear what you eat, what your kids eat, and any suggestions:

Breakfast: steel cut oatmeal, pork sausage, sometimes homemade fresh applesauce or grapes.

Lunches and Dinners: beans at least once per day (except for one child who refuses to eat them At All), white rice, beef (mostly) or chicken (sometimes), some sort of veggies (such as mushrooms/onions/peeled zucchini, lettuce/cucumber salad, homemade sauerkraut or pickles), homemade sourdough rice/arrowroot/cassava bread OR homemade sourdough white bread, very occasionally cauliflower, homemade sourdough "pizza" one night per week with garlic zucchini sauce and organic/raw havarti. We eat berries in season, bananas, white peaches in season, an egg per person or some yogurt occasionally. Once per week or so we have brown rice pasta. I use maple syrup and honey to sweeten things sometimes, and ginger and some herbs and spices sparingly. We mostly use avocado oil, or the fats from meats we're eating. I mostly use iodized salt.

Six of us cannot eat nuts without getting herpes nearly immediately. One of us can't do potatoes (joint aches). Four of us do not do well with gluten grains (severe digestive upset).

What might my kids (and my spouse and myself!) be lacking that would be good to add? Any opinions welcome. 🙂 Thanks!!

That sounds like a really healthy diet. What kind of health problems do your kids still have? Do they develop well?

In terms of nutrients the only thing you might lack is some fish or shell fish for iodine, essential fats and selenium. Adding sardines fixes this.

My kids' remaining health issues are mostly relating to tissue health: receding gums, loose ligaments, susceptibility to skin infections/herpes/etc, and chemical/mold sensitivities.

I kind of wonder, if it's a case of toxicity primarily "poisoning" a person and their gut flora, then many nutrients may not be getting produced by gut flora as they should be, and it's so freaking difficult to "plant" or "reseed" the flora. So what are the odds that things will improve over time, beyond a certain point?? I like to hope that healing capacity is limitless, but whether it feels like it is certainly depends on the day!

If I had children now, I would feed them common food, including eggs and milk(not enriched), with the exception of carotenoid vegetables, liver and seed oils. Maybe without gluten.

Btw, oats seem to be the one of the leader in glyphosate, if it is not organic, I would try not to eat it.

Avocados seem to contain a lot of carotenoids. Refined oil should be better.
