Regarding the other part of your comment, I think oats are vitamin A free. To avoid glyphosate, get organic. I eat a bowl of organic steel cut oats most days.

I had to stop eating Oats, they were giving me symptoms and seem to stop healing.  Oats contain Lutein + zeaxanthin.

Per 100g:

Vitamin A 0.00 IU 0 %
    Vitamin A, RAE 0.00 mcg
    Carotene, alpha 0.00 mcg
    Carotene, beta 0.00 mcg
    Cryptoxanthin, beta 0.00 mcg
    Lutein + zeaxanthin 180.00 mcg
    Lycopene 0.00 mcg

I may have to cut out the oats as well.  Although my bowel movements has been alot better since switching from rice for last 10 days, my mid backpain has been lingering for the same amount of time.  It's comes and goes but I don't recall it ever staying this long.   Tells me there may be something causing continuous inflammation...

Orion:

Thanks for your comments on oats. I don't notice symptoms when I eat them (unlike potatoes, which make my joints crack and my mind woozy).

However, while I have made some real progress eating low A since early November (5 months now), I am still super fatigued and foggy.

Having tried GAPS and Body Ecology (both forbid grains), I'm loving my oatmeal and am very sorry to think of having to let it go for a while. I'm also pleased at the possibility of having something I can tweak that might speed healing and get me through detox more quickly and thoroughly. I'll check out other options for a while and will add oats to the list of delicious things I might be able to bring back some day.

John:

No, I don't take 5000mg of vitamin C powder at a time. I use a 1/4 tsp scoop and add 1 or 2 scoops depending on how much I'm drinking (that's more like 900-1800mg). If it's an 8 oz glass, usually 1 scoop. If 12 oz or more, usually 2 scoops. Any more than that at a time and the flavor is unpleasant for me. At the moment, I'm only drinking water. If I were adding this to juice, I might be able to add a larger amount.

I prefer the powder because it's just pure ascorbic acid with no other ingredients in the capsules, etc. But I'm taking a lot right now and I do better getting the rest in capsules.

When I take ascorbic acid I need to take it with a straw because it's too hard on my worn teeth.   Just read mixing half sodium ascorbate and ascorbic acid brings the ph to around 5.5   Something Im going to try.
I also try to minimize extra ingredients.  I have both forms in powder.

You can try searching for magnesium ascorbate. It have neutral ph. I'm using it now and it's working nice.

John:

Thanks for the comment about the straw and mixing with sodium ascorbate. I hadn't thought about what other deterioration I might be causing with my good intentions and dedication.

Matrixik:

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into magnesium ascorbate.

MaryAnn,

Having amalgam filling is like sucking on a mercury popsicle that never melts. The vitamin A detox is great, but cant do anything about the mercury exposure you are getting 24/7. Might find some of your lingering symptoms resolve if you were to get them safely removed.

I thought I would post an update!  I seem to be improving in the last month or so, thank goodness! I have added white rice and soy sauce to my diet and both seem to be ok, hallelujah! Both rice and soy sauce are quite ordinary, but when you haven't had them in years, boy are they delicious, especially together!  I also may have improved with my corn allergy/intolerance. In the last few years I have not been able to touch or hug people because they usually have dryer sheet residue on their clothes. I had had many very bad experiences from hugging friends and family. But a few weeks ago I went to a retirement party filled with many old friends. I decided beforehand that I would just hug people, shower when I got home, and deal with the consequences if they came. I hugged everyone, had a wonderful time and didn't have a single negative reaction! I suppose it's possible that not a single person in the room had any "corny" dryer sheet or detergent residue on them, but that seems unlikely. Anyway, life is good and I'm so happy to be slowly and steadily recovering.

That’s awesome!

How long were you on a low A diet? What did your diet consist of with no rice?
