Influence of food on ADH and ALDH activity

PreviousPage 11 of 11

Is raising ALDH and ADH good?

When my baby was very ill after taking too many antibiotics too long (ear infections) a doctor recommended plain organic yogurt.   I've seen what a difference it made in his case.   Not only did it fix up his gut, it also stopped the ear infections.

I made kefir for a long time, I'm not sure how much it helped me.   At the same time I was doing loads of VA so it is unclear how much it helped or not.

If people have questions about how to make it, feel free to ask.  It's like owning a pet, LOL.   The thing about kefir is, it is a drink and you can use raw milk.

I think I kind of "wore out" my taste for kefir and prefer yogurt now.    Yogurt can be made with raw milk (and the result will also be a thin drink).   However, most people really like their yogurt thick, and to make that you pasteurize the milk before fermenting.

It's simple: yogurt and kefir regulate hepcidin, which decreases when infections, autoimmune diseases, and cancer occur. Everyone with any illness has a severe iron deficiency and iron buildup at the cellular level. This leads to copper not working as well. You eat yogurt and kefir, and boom, that problem is solved. We all have severe iron deficiency. Iron supplements don't fix it, nor does eating meat. They only modulate hepcidin. A high-iron diet while you're sick will make you worse.

Most people on Ray Peat get sick from this, a high iron liver. Milk lowers ADH, sugar lowers ADH, coffee lowers ADH. The first few months you'll feel great. Afterward, you'll be back to normal or worse. If there's no stress, the iron regulates itself and everything works perfectly. But in the civilization we live in, it's impossible. For example, foods that raise my ADH raise my body temperature. I think Ray Peat and Moorlins are all wrong. When it turns out that Al-Kefir cures anemia, Morlins' theory just died.
