Insomnia
Quote from Inger on November 21, 2023, 2:23 amQuote from Pawel on November 21, 2023, 1:48 amI went sick ~three weeks ago. Most probably this year's influenza or another XYZ another COVID variant. Not so long after I began my experiment with low vA diet. This coincided with a new phenomenon: me waking up in the middle of the night (usually at 01:00 - 02:00 am) and then being able to fall back asleep only at ~06:00 am. This has been happening every day for two weeks already. I am not saying that this is 100% related to the new, low vA diet (how would that even work?), but I cannot come up with any other reason either.
Any thoughts?
ouch that must be rough. I am sick right now too with a cold and fever. I wonder if the virus has made more toxic bile escaping the liver(that is what viruses do), and now you are dealing with increased toxicity in your bloodstream? The enterohepatic circulation makes bile recirculate and the toxins too. Are you eating legumes for soluble fiber? Maybe something that mops up the toxins would help. Soluble fiber or charcoal. I would do both.
To wake up at these times indicate liver issues = increased toxicity.

It indeed appears so.

Quote from lil chick on November 21, 2023, 7:39 amHi Paweł, so sorry to hear about your problems sleeping. It's awful, it really is. I hope your case progresses and this gets easier for you.
Until then, my mother is an expert at sleeping LOL and she always tells me to take the time to make your bed exactly the way you like it. Fancy sheets or whatever. I read one millennial say it is part of "adulting" haha. But really. I have had such a hard time sleeping that years ago I outfitted a bedroom of my own, away from my dear, wonderful, snoring husband. We do cuddle before and after sleep, but I wasn't winning the war of the bed covers and he's 2 times my size and I roll into the valley he makes etc. I have to also keep my dear little kitty out of my room because he disturbs me and brings his fur which tickles my nose. I sleep in a sandwich of two white cotton down-filled duvets, and two white-cotton flannel sheets to protect the duvets from sweat. I'm on the lookout for the "best" pillow for me, but so far that has been what is called a "cervical pillow". A wool or down pillow would be more natural, but as a side sleeper I do like neck support. I sleep in complete darkness with room darkening shades and the door closed. I sleep best when I go to bed at the same time each night, and do the same routine beforehand. A hot shower can help good sleep.
You know, when I first came here there was a movement of posters toward tipping the bed slightly. (head a few inches higher than feet) I wonder if that helps with getting lymph flow? I have antique furniture so it's a bit of a hard challenge for me and I haven't done it but it might make sense.

Quote from Hermes on November 21, 2023, 9:01 amOne word: inclined bed therapy. Okay, three. Here you go: https://inclinedbedtherapy.com/ Thank me later. My ex-girlfriend, who thought she was dating an Olympic athlete given my various health interventions (albeit to no avail), removed the wooden blocks under her bed, only to put them back a few nights later. That's how much better you sleep when your bed is raised on the side of your head. Simple, cheap, nothing to lose.

Quote from Hermes on November 21, 2023, 9:23 amThe ultimate sleep hack: Allow the earth's free charge to pass through you while you sleep, i.e. sleep outside or make sure the house is not insulted with artificial materials, our houses are actually built the wrong way. I remember once sleeping in a garage that had no insulation, to my surprise I slept like a baby despite the cheap fold-out couch. That's the difference it can make. Free charge.
Or you get more charge when camping, despite the insulation mat made of some strange material. I remember being in a particularly good mood every time I went camping in my youth. It's funny how so many things make sense in retrospect.
Our world isn't built for good health, on the contrary: there's a billion-dollar market in bad health and it's growing every year. I was born at the wrong time. It would have been great to grow up in the fifties. Or to have been born into a Monarch family in the 19th century. I recently read a UNESCO report that said children born today have a good chance of living to 94. That's ridiculous. In fact, life expectancy has been falling for years.
Not to mention all the EMF. It's a big sleep killer.
You can read more about this in Miles Mathis' paper: http://mileswmathis.com/build.pdf
There's another one by him, very recent: http://mileswmathis.com/aging.pdf
He talks about his health interventions. There are also photos of him. He is 60 years old and looks great. One of his advices: Sleep well. It makes all the difference. You can't overstate the importance of good sleep for a happy and productive life.

Quote from Liz on November 21, 2023, 9:05 pmIf I wake up before time, I have psyllium and bicarbonate and go back to bed. Works really well. Bicarb takes care of my oxalate issues (back/kidney pain if eating or dumping), psyllium mops up bile. Usually nowadays I wake up around 4-5 after 6h sleep due to oxalates but still take the psyllium. I find it a good combo.
