isotretinoin therapy and whey protein supplementation: an underreported and hepatotoxic combination

PreviousPage 4 of 4
  • @jaj I'm prone to teeth sensitivity amongst other stuff. I noticed that a lack of sleep or coffee will both increase A LOT this pain to the point where I can't even chew the food properly.

I did a glutamate test last year and it was very elevated. Both lack of sleep as well as Coffee increase Glutamate, and high Glutamate is linked to a much higher pain perception. I wonder if it's whats happening to me.

I have low elastase on stool test so I suspected a pancreatic issue for some time now. I did all the T1D antibodies, and they were all negativ. But the GAD enzyme is produced by the pancreas, and can be the cause of glutamate elevation. Since poor bile flow can lead to pancreatic issues, I'm still trying to work on this via liver flush and UDCA. Hopefully it will improve things over time, but I'm not sure.

My diet is pretty simple at the moment :

  • Beef, canned sardines, chicken, trout, and a little eggs
  • Apple, pears, strawberries, blueberries, banana, pineapple and dattes sometimes
  • Beet, white cabbage, cauliflower, cucumber and zucchinni (peeled), onion, white radish, envides (belgian), iceberg lettuce, parsnip, turnips, mushrooms (white), chinese cabbage
  • white potatoes, sourdough bread, quinoa, rice, black beans (very rarely)
  • almonds, cashew, brazil nuts, coconut milk and ginger

I cook everything from fresh or frozen. I do cook my meat in "broth" but it's by using a pressure cooked for 35min so not sure it's qualified as "slow cook" - It doesnt seem to bother me but again, not sure.

I just wanted to say I love this thread so much!! It made me laugh out loud several times (and the recognition is spot on). Allowing ourselves to recognize our mistakes without jugdement is something else. You guys are great 🤗
