I needed to disable self sign-ups because I’ve been getting too many spam-type accounts. Thanks.

It is not on bread alone that a man shall live

One of the things I was tempted to say on the "JP is ill" thread.

(btw: I'm not against philosophy talk, I just like to keep my topics as pure as possible, as an ex library worker...)

Regarding "why would God allow bad things to happen"... I don't think life is SUPPOSED to be easy.   Then we wouldn't grow.

I think we sign up for challenges in a general way, much like you decide to try scary rides at the amusement park.

Or another way to look at it is:   Heaven is heaven--this is school.

@lil-chick so when 10 days old baby burns alive in car accident what exactly the god is teaching this baby?

I've seen several ideas put forward about things like this.     One is that we are in a simulation and that some entities are actually non-player characters.    Another idea is that we play these various roles for one another, that we have soul families and sign up for situations en-masse sort of like a theatre group.   Hey, I'll be your baby this time, you be the dad who loses her because he was drunk etc.

Oh, and another thing about your question.   It isn't God making you learn something, it is You deciding to come back and learn something.    Free will.

My current life is so weird, I've been so happy and blessed.    I watch so many channels about people with *emotional angst and trauma*.    That isn't my life at all.

Instead, my life has been filled with *physical pain and nausea* (which is a sort of pain).

This week I have pain and I asked my son why I signed up for such a painful life.   He said I signed up for the life that would give me the most internet time, LOL.   And yes, I *am* psyched about that part of it, haha.    Tradeoffs.

@lil-chick you can have all kinds of insane explanations about why got wants you to suffer. The point is all this stuff about god and religion and believing will no help you in THIS world and in THIS life. So what is the point? It is actually distracting you from doing something that actually could help you. If you had sick kids and you pray daily for them and they die anyways after long suffering what would be your mindset after that? Oh amazing god is teaching me a lesson. I can't be more grateful? Or you will even tell them before they die don't worry honey. You are just in simulation and you are actually  just "non-player character"..?

I mean if that is not sign of complete delusion and insanity. I don't know what is and people even ask me why not join that club? Ridiculous..

Ok, Well, did you see that I said (in my opinion) YOU sign up for the challenges?    not God.   You want to grow, so you sign up for challenges.    Or you sit there and recover and take a vacation from suffering for a while.   It's up to you.

I think then (when you do incarnate) you forget that you signed yourself up... so that you actually feel the feels and grow.

Maybe.   If it doesn't fit for you, that is fine, no skin off my nose!

Maybe one of the fun things about your last day (and it comes for all of us) is that you finally find out the rules of the game?

The kids in the 25 vs 1 video, who brought up all that horrible stuff from the Bible (and it's there in the Koran too, let's not let them off the hook) kind of is a symptom of the fact that most people haven't been to church hahaha

I think everyone who *has* been dragged to church for their whole lives totally gets that there is crappy stuff in there that everyone ignores.   Not to mention the whole thing about not having sex before marriage or not using birth control.

And when the Muslims say "we have a religion of peace" no one whips out the Koran and points out that it is violent and gory and racist too.

Even the Hindu's don't want you marrying outside your caste.

All you have to do is look up at the bleeding, tortured Christ hanging from the ceiling of the Catholic church and realize hey now... maybe this is a little much!  Here comes my Christmas dinner guys...

Another idea is (to take the example of the baby in the car accident again) that you are both the drunk driver and the baby.   And the fire fighter too.   That we've been and are being all things, from a star to a worm.
