Quote from lil chick on February 27, 2026, 7:20 pmI don't think life is supposed to be easy, or we wouldn't learn. If a person's life seems easy it could be that they are just learning other things different than your things. Or maybe, sometimes our soul gets so burned out and sad that we get a break and come down here for an easy life haha. But it's probably not the norm.

There's plenty of scripture that supports reclaiming health and deliverance that demons have taken through legal means. So making healing declerations is one way of taking back what we've been promised.
Yes, sir, I am. Curious to hear what scripture passages you have in mind.
It troubles me that I struggle with my health so much. I wish I was more useful to society and, ultimately, the Lord.
God is sovereign, even in our suffering, but I have such a hard time believing the challenges I encounter are to my well-being and His Glory. It seems like a never ending story of suffering and isolation with no other hope than the eternal reward.
I wish so much for a second chapter in my life. But so often, when I ruminate about the trajectory of my life I find myself returning to the same conclusion. This is the work of the Lord. He has ways far beyond me, thoughts I'll never be able to comprehend, certainly not in this lifetime. This life is only fleeting, a preparation for eternity. I should have more than enough reasons to rejoice, but I guess I'm just too human, which means sinful.
Let's say I've been humbled and humiliated again and again.
A couple of examples
1 Peter 2:24 "He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed"
This and the "great commission" are the basis of the pentecostal idea that we can heal each other (and ourselves). Mark 16
"16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
I've been working on ridding myself of the type 1 diabetes for a few years now (since I started watching people drop dead from the clot shot and started questioning everything) and my latest attempt is working towards deliverance, in addition to lowering systemic inflammation.
A few other examples:
Exodus 15:26 "and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”"
Psalm 103 "2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,"Psalm 147:3 "He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds."Acts 3:6 "6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
Acts 3:16 "16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see."
And plenty more. Ive only recently started talking to some of these so called "healing ministries" but their claim is that Jesus gave us the ability to heal. They claim that sickness is in some way self inflicted through sin and giving demons legal rights to us. Their approach seems to be two fold. One being deliverance and the other being declaring healing. Some declerations connected to the above mentioned verses
I invoke 1 Peter 2:24 and I declare that, by the wounds of Christ, I have been healed.
I invoke Exodus 15:26 and I declare that my Heavenly Father is the Lord my healer.
I invoke Psalm 103:3 and I declare the Lord heals all my diseases.
I invoke Psalm 147:3 and I declare that my God heals my broken heart, and binds up all my wounds.
I invoke Acts 3:6 & Acts 3:16 and I declare miracles of healing are now released against every adverse condition in my body.
When I'm healed and delivered I'll make sure to let everyone know. Until then I'll keep eating the yogurt and reading more about what everyone else is trying.

Thanks for compiling some verses.
1 Peter 2:24 "He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed"
Hm, I think Peter refers to the eternal condemnation that looms for every sinner. But those who believe will be saved from this blight and thereby be healed. Or, put differently: Adam brought death into the world; Jesus brought life. Both death, sickness, and so on refer to our spiritual condition. And life and healing refer to the eternal reward: That one day, Christians will rule on the New Earth, together with Jesus as the head.
Exodus 15:26 "and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”"
I think this refers to the specific circumstances the Jews were in when they were held as slaves in Egypt. They will be exempt from the wrath of the Lord, which only will afflict the Egyptians.
It's clear: God heals. Jesus did, to authenticate his deity. But that is not a promise to every believer. I really can't endorse the name it and claim it Gospel some make the Good News out to be. Sure, sometimes unexpected healings happen, but they are rather the exception. The norm is people get sick, they die: in accidents, of old age, after battling years with cancer. You get the picture.
Even Jesus acknowledges how life is unfair when he shares the parable of the rich man and poor Lazarus. Lazarus suffered in this life, but received consolation by Abraham in Heaven. The rich man had a lavish life. Dressed elegantly and ate lavishly.
Acts 3:6 "6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
To me, this is a classic example where one takes a narrated bit and turns it into a prescription. I don't think such miraculous healings happen today. Even the Jews back then had to acknowledge the healing by Peter. It was obvious to everyone. Today, Benny Hinn and buddies stand out by manipulating people. They don't heal. They pretend to. Also, the entire ministry by Bill Johnson is phony.
There is a reason every New Testament book, except for Philemon, warns about false teachers. We really need to be discerning and not fall for preachers who tap into our secret wishes, things we desire to be true but are are really nowhere to be found in Scripture as promises.
God allows disease for reasons we don't fully understand. Ultimately, everything on this side of hell is grace. We are not entitled to anything. Actually, we deserve to be punished for eternity. But God in his kindness saves some sinners. The true reward is not this life, but the New Earth, where we resurrect with fully functioning, healthy bodies and serve the Lord in eternity. Where the air we breathe will be joy. Where there is no jealousy, no sin, and no suffering. Just thinking about this new world makes me excited.
I hope you find relief from your Type 1 diabetes. Just don't sweat it. If God heals, He heals. But you can't really make him do anything he wouldn't have done anyway. As believers were called to pray in accordance to the will of God. Not my will shall be done but yours. That takes real humility. Of course, everybody wants to be on top of their game. But God looks at us very differently. He wants us to conform to Him, to Jesus. That's the ultimate goal on earth. Not health, not wealth.

Quote from Joe2 on March 3, 2026, 12:01 amHah.
Nice. And He helps those who help themselves.
In addition and along these lines, I like math. If He is omniscient, omnipotent and well EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE at ALL TIME, then um yeh, He is not just in each of us. He is each of us, the chairs we are sitting in, the rock on the front lawn, EVERYTHING. And He already knows what we need and how. Kind of embarrassing to think that I am praying to this Guy in a way that means I am praying to myself and MORE.
So I keep my prayer short. 2 to 5 words. 2 of them are gratitude.
So goofy analogies come to mind. One is praying to myself - which is not a bad idea since subconscious is always listening. Two is I picture an infant barely able to sit up, in the kitchen high chair watching dinner put together ------- offering instructions on how and what he wants done. BTW, our young almost adult puppy does this every night. Amazing articulate speech. Even through the drool. It is a pleasure to hear him though. Glad to hear him as long as he keeps cheerful and keeps the anguish down.
Hah.

Ha! This verse continues to cause much confusion. Obviously, no one has done greater miracles in this frequency as Jesus did (neither did Paul or Peter). If we speak of His work as to evangelize, I agree: There are many who have reached many more people with the Gospel than Jesus did. And have done greater works than He did.
