Is anybody taking Lacroferrin here ? Garreth Smith talk a lot about this supplement and its potential health benefits and fixing cholestasis . I was wondering if any of us here are taking this drug .

Cheers!

I drink goat kefir. It's not low vit A friendly, but there should be some lactoferrin. 🙂

@r-2 I ordered some, should have it next week, will post any updates here.

What's the expected benefit of lactoferrin in assisting vitamin A toxicity? I've only heard it mentioned in connection with proper iron metabolism.

@orion, where have you ordered from? On iHerb, for instance, most lactoferrin doesn't come without an adjuvant like silicon dioxide. Ideally, I would like to get pure lactoferrin powder.

And what's the difference to colostrum? When I search for lactoferrin, colostrum will also appear in the search results list on iHerb.

@christian Lactoferrin is involved with epithelial tissues, generation and repair I think, so after accutane or high dose VA, might be good to test with.  Might also help with cholestasis.

Ordered from Garrett, it is pure with no excipients.  Colostrum will come along with VA I believe, lactoferrin is VA free.

@orion, Good to know, thanks for clarifying the role of lactoferrin and directing me to Garrett. I haven't been aware he's selling lactoferrin. Please report back your experience with it.

I think I will try some from Jarrow as well. It should starve bad bacteria by lowering iron floating around in the body that bacteria is using as food.. Maybe it can help with my copper toxicity as well..

Please be aware that some of us long term detoxers were very reactive to lactoferrin so probably best to try out a low amount first. Some people absolutely fine with a capsule but others got extreme reactions on 1/64th of a teaspoon. Very varied.

I personally tried some of the Life Extension lactoferrin and it gave me what I call ‘coppery’ symptoms - mental behaviour. Therefore I’ve not tried the new one that Garrett Smith is selling, as I’m wary. There has not been imo a logical explanation for the extreme reactions some people have experienced.

There are a number of people who reacted badly to the Life Extension lactoferrin who seem to be doing well with the Garrett Smith one. Therefore the strange reactions could be down to a factor not to do with the actual lactoferrin but something else in the capsule or the type of lactoferrin used? I just don’t know. I just want to warn people to be cautious and not to jump into taking a whole capsule straight away.

@jaj  What were some of the bad reactions?  planning to start very low and slow, will update this thread.

I did try full capsules a few years back, and it seemed to do nothing to me, might be different now...
