Lugol's solution, Iodine question

I just did an experiment with iodine. It really shut off my bile. It might be why you have bile issues.
wow.. I did a lot of iodine (lugols) before I started to get gallbladder issues several years ago.
How interesting. Maybe it contributed to it! I have intuitively stayed away from iodine since then but I do paint my breasts with a little lugols occasionally, just to be sure they have the iodine they need. I got rid of a breast lump I had since teenager, with doing the high does iodine + painting. It has not come back, thats why I occasionally paint with a little iodine.

Quote from Inger on March 23, 2024, 12:57 amI do think taking iodine orally is harsh for the thyroid and body. It is out of natural concept. A supplement. So many things can go wrong, it is so concentrated. I think eating seafood / seaweed a couple times / week should give a healthy person enough iodine.

Yes people in Japan have or at least they had intake of iodine from seaweed and seafood in miligram doses. 3-15mg a day. If it is harmful we would see that negative effect. But it is exact opposite.

@jiri maybe it depends on the context, the individual. I have read from people that have hurt their health with iodine, so they are out there. I have followed several online groups and I read a lot of peoples experiences. So there are both, positive and negative effects.
I have learned that thyroid disease always starts with liver issues, that a healthy liver means a healthy thyroid too. So liver(including the gut as those two is connected too) healing should be the focus.
Karen Hurd healed herself from thyroid disease (graves) it was so bad they had taken out most of her thyroid. She healed herself with the bean protocol, no supplements at all. And also no thyroid medication. She has not had any thyroid issues since then. I think the bean protocol is so efficient in healing all sort of issues because it heals the liver. The problem is it is a very slow process for most, people lose patience. One lady in the facebook group wrote that it took her 2 years, she was about to quit so many times as she did not feel well.. but she continued.. and then at about the 2 year mark it shifted. She became like a new person. I always remind myself of that when I feel like it takes too long.

what is the mechanism of that? Iodine is killing all kinds of pathogens and also pushes toxins like heavy metals out of the body. So maybe that ca stress the liver and lowers bile production?
I’m not sure. But I found 2 studies showing that it does. And that’s what it did to me.

Yes this is a very slow process. I’ve found coffee enemas to speed it up some though.

Thank you for sharing @nate-2. Another piece in the puzzle, how I messed up my liver!! I am so angry at supplements. No one ever said to me, and I read a LOT about the iodine protocol, that it could do this to the liver. I was like grasping at straws here and there, thinking they would fix me, when all I needed was to just stop all stimulants(and supplements!), stop stressing(and doing late night work), and feed my body a balanced beautiful diet including soluble fiber. But I had no clue... I had not stumbled upon that solution yet, the road is stony and narrow 🙂
but we learn a ton during this process for sure 🙂

Did your bile flow ever return? Mine is still slow. I’ve been megadosing selenium as it seems to be helping. But I agree. Supplements have only messed me up.

@nate-2,
it is much better, it improved very slowly though. In fact I am now having pretty perfect poop, yay 🙂 I can see it on the color, bile is flowing nicely now! Also my gallbladder tension is practically gone.
I eat lots of fiber and beans. I try to eat a very varied diet to get all nutrients in. And I eat quite a lot! I dont care if I am a little "chubby" I rather get all nutrients in to heal as fast as possible. I am not going to starve me now. Healing comes first. Sick and skinny is not pretty, but healthy is 🙂
Be careful with selenium, I poisoned myself with that too! Not good! It was during my iodine supplementation period, as it is a co nutrient on the protocol. I realized it as my nails became very brittle. I stopped the selenium and nails got normal again.

Good to know. I’ve found I make the most progress without supplements. Idk why I get roped into doing them.
