MCS, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities

Page 1 of 3Next

I thought I would start a thread on this topic.    Several people and topics have touched on heightened issues with chemical exposures.    Overblown reactions to common things in the environment.     Mold.    Fragrance.    Smoke.  Off-gassing vinyl.    Car exhaust.   Pesticides.    The list goes on and on.    I would even put pollen issues and pet allergies on this list.

Here is a place to discuss this and related topics.

Have you seen these issues get less on lowered VA?    Do you have ideas on how to live with this problem?

I think that there are probably two aspects to this problem and that they may be on different trajectories for healing.

One is that the surfaces of things are just really goofed up and delicate, dry, irritated.    Our surfaces aren't keeping us as safe as we need them to, or they are over-reactive.

Another, is that once things get into our systems... Well perhaps our detox systems are already quite busy and/or distressed.   As an example out of thin air: perhaps my kidneys are pretty darn worn out after a full lifetime of VA overload.

A good example of this might be a case we have discussed recently:  Jordan Peterson's horrible reaction to cleaning out his Parent's belongings from a moldy cellar.

The best idea is don't go into the moldy cellar.   But as we all know, sometimes we have to get dirty in this life.

Could Jordan have gone down, opened up the windows and ran fans for 24 hours prior, and then during his cleanup?

Could he have worn some sort of very good mask (I doubt the typical cheap mask would have done much). (personally I'd worry I'd react to the mask)

Could he have installed an air purifier in advance and during?

Perhaps there would have been a smart duration to uphold (say, clean for an hour a day)?

Perhaps some sort of cleanup regimen including changing clothing and showering?

I wonder if Jordan Peterson went for antihistamines after his mold exposure, and would that have possibly kept him out of the hospital (much like taking a pill after a bee sting).

I have MCS.  Not as bad as when I first broke, but bad enough that I still run from smells and get kind of pissy when people invade my space with their toxins on!

I have noticed that ALL clothes that I buy has some kind of spray on them that takes about 5 washes to remove the odor. I recently ordered some solar lights from Amazon and even the lights had that spray on them.

when I get around toxins, I have become good at holding my breath and walking the other direction.  I do try to do deep breathing exercises to help remove toxic air in my lungs.

Before the vaccine, my eyes used to puff up if I ate soya. I could take an antihistamine but once I figured out what it was, I ended up just avoiding soya, soya lecithin etc (I was vegetarian at the time). other stuff didn’t bother me. Since the vaccine, I also get affected by chemical cleaning products, strong smells, chlorine etc. I carry a scarf with me to cover my nose and mouth eg if someone is smoking as I don’t want any more toxicity or to lengthen the healing process.  I still avoid soya; if I eat it by accident, I get itchy. I am probably toxified all over now and my eyesight is significantly worse (so much so that I do not go out as much at night).

Once I got an arm rash that lasted 2 weeks from a new shirt, and I waxed on here about all the poisons they put into clothing.    Then, I banished a bunch of clothing to the attic.   I started blaming my torso itchiness-with-sweating on these poisons in clothing...but the itchiness didn't go away no matter how organic and natural-fiber and un-dyed and elastic-free and perfume-free I made the clothing.

I've decided that my itchiness is from not being able to sweat properly.      They say this can be because of nerve damage.

It's hard sometimes not to be paranoid haha.    I suppose there is a lesson here that sometimes the unwellness is just you and not the environment.

Yesterday I got all my banished clothing out again, including the piece that gave my arm a rash.    I do think that one arm-rash WAS from wearing something unwashed and new.    It IS a good thing to wash clothing before wearing, as Ginny says above.

I have severe MCS and severe EMF sensitivity. The two goes hand in hand.  In most cases the more exposure to EMF's the worse my MCS gets. I got very severe during the time I was taking high dose sodium ascorbate and about 1000iu's of vD a day. I was also trying different probiotics and eating a ton of beef trying out more carnivore. Also took drops of oregano oil a few times which I think had a negative effect on my microbiome and possibly making everything worse.  Both my MCS and EMF sensitivity went atomic it was so bad, I surely would have died if I didn't actively avoid the triggers.

My tolerance to both EMF and MCS fluctuates with my baseline increasing every year. Diet, exercise, exposure levels definitely has an effect on my sensitivity.  At my worse, smelling those gauze tap they wrap your arm with after a blood draw, just one whiff, shot through my nose and straight into my brain like an ice pick, it was incredible.  Then there are times when I get  a whiff of car strong car exhaust and to my surprised no instant inflammatory reaction in my lungs. The answer is there somewhere in diet, exercise, and exposure time and levels, possibly stress as well but it comes with the territory, more exposure causes more stress, makes everything worse.

I find it easier to avoid EMF than MCS as escaping into living in a motor vehicle, it is very very difficult to avoid car exhaust. Where ever my vehicle goes, there are other vehicles.  If I can find   a safe piece of land somewhere away from everything where supplies or within an hour or so away that would be ideal, but it's very difficult to find and very hard with how sensitive I am.  I have to know the place is safe before hand if I were to travel more than a day to get to.  I have to sit there and test it for a few hours to know that it's safe.

The one thing people who are chronically ill, whether severe or not, are EMF's, no holds bar. I try to always tell people how important this is to add to their health equation. Think of Electrical Hypersensitivity(EHS) like sugar, most people are fine and don't need to watch their sugar intake, some people realize too much is getting to them and they have to watch their intake, some are pre diabetic, some are diabetic and will kill them if they don't address it. But no matter how healthy a person can be, there will be a limit to how much sugar they can handle eventually, it may be a ton more than the average but it will start giving them symptoms. Same thing with EMFS, most are fine and some are very resistant but there is a limit where at a high enough level, will start giving them symptoms.  EMF is the easiest thing to rule out with the highest reward.  All your symptoms would subside very quickly.  It doesn't fix the underlying cause but it stops the damage and pain!

I live off the beaten path , however for the last few weeks I get a migraine every day.  I think it’s coming from the air spraying.

when I moved here, I had no issues with EMF, then they put a cell tower about 10 miles due south of me.  The tower itself does not bother me, however if a cell phone is used in my house I feel effects.
Then they put in that orange high speed internet cable along the road and it puts off a lot of EMF.  The EMF makes me pass out.  I don’t drive much anymore! ☹️
