My crazy diet experiments (3+ years)

I only remember I took a low dose as well.

It doesn't get higher than 60mg unless the doc plans to euthanize you.

I think it was 10-20 mg for 6 months. Then I stopped. I definetely felt toxic from it. Im so glad I had never problems with eyes or bones because of it.

It appears to me that some toxic people end up having bad reactions to fasting.

Yesterday I was at the vet, and the vet told me that often animals that have "gone through privations" are apt to get fat once they are getting fed again.  I wondered if this was a sign that fasting can trigger some sort of problem.    And I think we've all seen how such animals can end up with bald patches etc.   I also think that dieting seems to itself cause weight gain (the yoyo dieters whose weight jumps up again higher after falling off the wagon).

Just thoughts.  If fasting helps, I'm glad we have another tool.

I personally had a bad reaction when I tried to fast.  (as in passing out, and then feeling like hit by a truck.  prostration)    Similar to the things that sometimes happen on reality TV where sometimes people fall ill after not being fed properly.  (like "Survivor")

You feel bad while fasting because the body is detoxing.

I did a lot of "detox diets", nothing comes close to fasting. Which isnt suprising for me because it is the natural way to heal. Every animal does it. Also kids, that still have their natural instincts, dont want to eat when they are sick.

@max-3

Isn't fasting induced instinctively as a response to viral or other pathological infection, rather than toxicity?

With infection, I think the idea is that more energy can be diverted to the immune response instead of digestion, and there might also be benefits of using ketones for energy rather than glucose when fighting infection.

With chronic toxicity, you really need to be eliminating bile in order to clear toxins, which generally means you need to be eating regularly to initiate bile release.  Doesn't fasting result in bile stagnating in the liver/gallbladder?  The body's solution to acute infection and acute toxicity is quite different from chronic toxicity as far as I know, chronic toxicity requires a lot of nutrients to correct for example.

In my opinion our body is self healing. It always tries to heal. If you fast you create the optimal conditions for healing, because the body can use all its energy for it.

There are tons of people that try dieting for years and get nowhere. Then they fast long enough and properly and they finally improve. I dont wanna draw any conclusions about my 20 day fast yet but I feel this is the way.

First build up on a clean diet that is as nutrient dense as possible and is as low in toxins as possible. Then water fast for at least 20 days (I will go 30 days next time). Then build up again and fast again next year.

I think that @wavygravygadzooks hit it on the head.   I think when you are very toxic you need to keep food moving through.  If, during that time, you catch a germ your body might decide to fast until you are over that hump.  I've noticed when I'm sick I stop detoxing (ie my face stops all it's crazy badness suddenly).   Fasting might be a thing you could try after a person is no longer VA intoxified.

Short update: It now has been one month since I broke my 20 day water fast (no supplements, pills or electrolytes, just spring water). I must say I cant remember I have ever felt this good. Im sure as a child before taking accutane, I probably felt just as good, but I can say with confidence that I havent felt this good for at least 15 years (and Im 27 now).

I had chronic fatigue for as long as I can remember (never diagnosed though), this has healed completely with the water fast. I cant believe how much energy I have. Im pretty much active all day long without energy crashes or the need for rest. My muscles recover way faster than before. I always needed at least 8 hours of sleep everyday or I would feel completely dead. Now Im fine with 6 hours. I  already rebuild most of my muscle mass in just 4 weeks since breaking the fast.

Other notable changes:

  • Acne on my body completely gone
  • cravings for cooked foods completely gone (this is also because I did the research myself and Im now convinced cooked food is toxic: Google these words and you will find out yourself: Acrylamides, heterocyclic amines, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, Advanced Glycation End Products, digestive leukocytosis)
  • I feel more conected to nature, I always go to sleep now when the sun goes down. I used to stay up until 3 am before the fast for years.
  • Im very content with my life and never depressed. I can still get angry sometimes about how retarded the vast majority of humans are, but I dont get depressed from it anymore.
  • I feel like a child again (hard to explain what I mean with this)
  • I was addicted to porn (just like 99 percent of males), and this got way better as well.

I will definetely fast again next year and will go for at least 30 days. Diet wise I plan to stay on raw foods (meat and fruit).

@max-3 just because fried or burned meat from the grill is not ideal it doesn't mean that cooked food is bad for humans LOL. I cook everything with water basically so no toxic things you mentioned. I would be very careful not doing anything extreme. You could feel good due to high stress hormones which are anti inflammatory and can give you plenty of "fake" energy. It can easily swing back to even deeper chronic fatigue etc.. So just be careful. I am talking from my experience...

I am glad to hear you're doing well, but there are some issues I see with your health update:

  1. Sleeping less than 8hrs on average isn't necessarily a good thing, since it likely means that your cortisol is chronically elevated. This is especially very possible after fasting for that long.
  2. I disagree that cooked food is inherently toxic (or at least more toxic than raw food). We evolved eating predigested food, which includes cooking too. That is why our digestive system is the most infantile among mammals. Fruit is something that is naturally edible raw as it is meant by nature to be eaten, and you wouldn't even be able to eat raw meat without a grinder (and even so, I doubt your stomach acid is strong enough to fully break down the amino acids without any form of fermentation, aging or cooking). I can understand doing a temporary raw food diet to have a better understanding of how you react to certain foods, but I find it a terrible idea for any long term approach.
  3. Fasting for weeks on end without any potassium or sodium is just begging for muscle spams, joint cracks and headaches. You may have felt fine, but there are several people who can attest to that being a bad idea. I guess this is mostly a heads up in case you do start to show these symptoms. You should give Cole Robinson from Snake Diet a watch if you haven't yet.
