My crazy diet experiments (3+ years)
Quote from Max on September 8, 2021, 7:09 amQuote from Spokes on September 8, 2021, 7:03 amThe reason I ask is your reaction to rice and other carbs suggests some bacterial thing is going on. Fermentation can produce toxins and irritating substances that might explain some of the things you're experiencing.
White rice is low fiber, yet I get worse skin from it than from fruit, which is high fiber and therefore more fermentation is going on.
If fermentation would cause me problems then I would heal on a carnivore diet, but I didnt. Litereally makes no difference on how much fiber I eat. I tried everything, couldnt heal my skin on any diet.

I once starved for 10 days, and it didn't reduce my acne a bit.

This means not eating anything, only drinking water. I think my acne is related with VA overload (maybe, copper), and it will only help to get rid of it.

I have had some reactions to white rice, particularly cooked rice that's cooled for a while due to resistant starch. No issues with fruit, but then most of that is digested higher up in the digestive tract. Fibre doesn't seem to have much effect.

Quote from Max on September 8, 2021, 9:33 amMmmh, I think the problem with people like me that dont get better, is that we have more than just a Vitamin A problem. If Vit A was my only problem, then I should never get worse with white rice, which has zero A. Im pretty sure Im Vitamin A toxic because of Accutane but Im certain things like seed oils or processed food are far worse for me than "natural" vitamin A.
There is more to the story than "just avoid vitamin A" because lots of people here have done it but dont report the miracles like Grant. Really frustrating. We gotta admit we dont know anything. Even though we are all humans, there is no one size fits all when it comes to healing.
@daniil what diets have you tried? My acne will clear up quickly on either high fat carnivore or fruitarian. Have you tried those?

Quote from Даниил on September 8, 2021, 9:58 amNo, I haven't tried carnivore diet. I think giving up carbohydrates is not physiological. I have enough problems as it is. In addition, it is an expensive diet and large amount of iron scares me.A diet with lots of fruits is the worst thing that can be thought of for my skin.

Quote from salt on September 8, 2021, 10:03 amIf you cant digest grains and want something similair to potato but without the allergenic solanine, you could try cassava, yams, and maybe white sweet potato.
Skin is the last and final thing I'd expect to get cured on a low VA diet, as a lot of the VA is detoxified through the skin so the skin will be constantly exposed to VA as you perspire it. Mucous also sounds like a detoxification symptom. It sounds like you may have been detoxing, and then you started eating more carotenoids (fruits) and then detoxifcation stopped and your skin and mucous got better. This is only one out of multiple possible explanations though.
By the way, honey can have quite a bit of carotenoids.

Quote from Даниил on September 8, 2021, 10:19 amI tried a vegan diet (with and without gluten), 2 times I was on keto, and Ray inspired eating. In some ways it was better, in some ways it was worse. In general, these diets did not improve my condition. Acne is not even close to gone on any diet.

Quote from Orion on September 8, 2021, 11:44 amIt has taken me 3yrs on low VA to slowly get the skin to respond, and still have a ways to go.
For me the improvements from this approach are better than any other supp or diet, and I have tested them all thoroughly, zero carb, high carb, high fat, fruit, potato, milk, long water fasts...
In the end if you don't test serum VA or have a liver biopsy you won't have the proper evidence to say where you at. Been mentioned here many times, you need patience on low VA, it is a multiple marathon run, not a 100m dash.
Some have realized doing low VA brings on deficiencies, Zinc, Magnesium, Molybdenum, selenium, B1, B2...
