Quote from Jiří on July 7, 2020, 11:35 am@matrixik yeah that is probably to short period for benfo and also low dose. I would think like at least 500mg for 5 months will do it.. Btw I don't see any benefit to eat beans full of pectin. Try oats. Beta glucan is much better type of fiber.. Heh when I was into detoxing I was eating crazy amounts of apples before liver flush + apple juice. I was trying to detox the liver with crazy amounts of pectin and fructose.. Great times.. 😀 Also Thx Ray Peat diet for B1 deficiency.. 🙂

Quote from Jiří on July 7, 2020, 12:17 pm@orion Just normal rolled gluten free oats. I started today eating them. So I have no idea how it will go. I soak them overnight and cook them.. I was eating oats a lot during my bodybuilding days. I was eating them also just soaked in protein shake. Or I was making pancakes with egg whites.. I just want some beta glucan fiber. So I will eat like 50g a day. If I will feel good I wll eat 100g a day no more.. Btw I was reading B1 topic on Ray peat forum. It looks like it increased metabolism a lot for some people even you? Some people even had hair loss from that? Even in amazon comments was somebody talking about hair loss.. Omg I don't want stress my body and push my metabolism. I just want correct any potential deficiency.. 🙂

Quote from Orion on July 7, 2020, 2:25 pm@jiri I might start using oats once in awhile, for some food variety, always loved them.
I have tried everything to increase metabolism; sugar, hormones, minerals, vitamins... Alli B1 feels very natural, but you will have to experiment and go by how you feel. I think if you are deficient(very likely after accutane), if won't be able to drive the metabolism to much, you just have to build up slow, since it will make your body use carbs and fat more efficiently, so making sure you have the calories to counter this. Like I said it took me weeks/months to slowly up the Alli dosage. But it sound like the Benfo version has less punch, let us know how it goes.
nothing has stopped my hair shedding, if it keeps up with B1, throw it on the pile with all the other things that have not worked 🙂

When Ive taken thiamin hcl 100 mg or riboflavin 100 mg Ive felt worse, I avoid any B supps. I got a stress response like orion is talking about. Maybe allithiamine is very helpful, I remain skeptical that it is the best approach but it sounds like you and orion are benefiting.
Anyone with SIBO is likely thiamin deficient. The condition depletes thiamin itself and then the suffer tends to avoid the best sources of thiamin, whole grains and legumes.
I don't think methanol from small amounts of pectin is an issue but both ethanol and methanol do deplete thiamine.

Yep I think organic oat porridge for breakfast might be the best option for vA detox. High in thiamin and beta-glucan.
Non organic oats are very high in glyphosate so I would avoid them. Most organic breakfast cereal is a good option, I have an organic wheat cereal as well.

Quote from Mattia on July 8, 2020, 4:32 amI'm starting to take thiamine TTFD as I have multiple decicency symptoms.
The youtube guy mentioned by @jiri has the purest supplement for TTFD, gelatine capsule without fillers. You can buy it on his website.

Quote from Matrixik on July 8, 2020, 11:44 amOne really nice thing about increasing my metabolism (with allithiamine, salt and some more) is that I started seeing strength gains after years of mostly increasing body fat when I ate more because I though that I was not eating enough... Not big because I known that I don't want normal strength training with low body temperature (and I read long time ago that stress from strength training lower it even more) but from pilates. Previous years was mostly increased mobility but barely any strength that even my trainer was surprised. I think I'll wait some more months before starting with pushing heavy stuff just to be on the safe side.

Quote from Jiří on July 8, 2020, 12:08 pm@matrixik I think strength training is good even if you are hypothyroid which is my case.. But cardio exercises is really dangerous. I crushed from cycling on road bike 3-5 hour rides.. Anyway pilates is good, but it must be boring.. I stopped training for gaining muscles and looks. Now I do calisthenics. Which is great because you don't need basically anything. Maybe pull up bar at home and you can also workout outside like they build now workout parks almost everywhere.. Calisthenics and basic exercises is great. But ideally you want train here and there also with weights some squats and deadlifts. + commuting on the bike to keep some cardio in.. But that's just me and what I like now.. Everyone likes something else. It is important to do what you enjoy.. Unfortunately a lot of people don't like to move their ass or sweat at all..

Quote from Jiří on July 9, 2020, 9:41 am@orion I also love oats. But after 3 days of eating just 50g a day I think I am done with oatmeal experiment. My stomach is bloated. Digestion is very slow. I feel really sluggish... Even worse feeling than with the beans... Maybe I should try not cook them. Eat them just soaked or grind them in coffee grinder to flour, mix it with water and drink. Because only cooking them makes this glue like consistency that even looks hard to digest.. So maybe by not cooking them the fiber that I need will still act like a fiber, but without that gelatinization will not slow digestion so much.. I will try this uncooked method for 2-3 days..
