New post on calcium usage from SG

PreviousPage 3 of 3

I was browsing through my computer files and came across a study that caught my attention: the issue resulting from taking calcium carbonate, for the treatment of peptic ulcers. Sooner or later, they led to alkali syndrome, which obviously worsened with the concomitant intake of milk. Therefore, I would not recommend taking calcium carbonate to anyone.

Is there any kind of natural food  that one could take instead of a pill to help with increasing calcium ?

@ginny on very strict low vit A diet it is hard. Maybe mineral water. Basically all plant sources of calcium that have decent amount of calcium have also a lot of antinutrients like oxalates for example spinach, almonds etc.. So they even rob your calcium let alone give you some.. I just sprinkle some calcium citrate on my meals to get like extra 200mg per each meal.. It could be dangersous to take big dose from supplement away from meals, but if you take small amount with the meal so that small amount is absorbed slowly like from food would. I think it is ok. Taking magnesium and K2 to help with proper calcium metabolism is also a good idea. If you have vit A toxicity you are probably K2 deficient anyway..

Natural Supplement: Whey Protein(Pag.7) 600mg calcium / 100g

Natural Food: skimmed milk (150mg calcium / 100g)

If you can't digest dairy, then calcium amino chelate or calcium chloride, citrate, gluconate...

@tropico hehe not even most bodybuilders consume 100g of whey protein.. Not to mention many people here think even whey has vit A.. I don't and I eat like 20-40g most days. Good source of protein, but not good source of calcium.. Some mineral waters have decent amount of calcium so if you drink 2L it could give you 400-500mg... But likeI said. Calcium citrate probably best choice..
